Night Fiction is Cian Nugent's third album but his first taking on the role of singer-songwriter. Where his previous two albums: 2013's Born With The Caul and 2011's Doubles saw him exploring extended guitar based instrumentals with his band, The Cosmos, here he has reigned things in and focused his songwriting skills. Guitar fans, do not fear, there is still plenty of soloing and fingerpicking here. With 7 songs both solo and with his band, this album amalgamates everything Cian has done up to this point and reveals a more broad palate of influences, including The Velvet Underground, Richard Thompson, Television, Neil Young, John Lennon, Fred Neil, etc.

Recorded over a week beginning on Valentine's Day 2014, Night Fiction was recorded in Bow Lane Studios in Dublin with Daniel Fox (Girl Band) and mixed by Brendan Jenkinson. The album's seven songs include solo ventures as well as full-band recordings feat. David Lacey on drums, Conor Lumsden on bass, Brendan Jenkinson on organ and piano and Ailbhe Nic Oireachtaigh on viola. The vibe here is familiar yet refreshing and a logical progression for Cian.

‘All My Life/Mariposa’, the double A-side single from Cave Ghosts, will be released through Road Movie Records on Wednesday 25th November 2015. The release will be available as a download and on CD from 
www.caveghosts.com, while iTunes, Spotify and all other popular download and streaming services will carry the single.

Cave Ghosts are five star-gazers playing shimmering nostalgic pop. Their story began when two small town dreamers living in a big city, Jen Connell (vocals/keys) and Aoife O’Carra (vocals/guitar) circled each other’s ‘Musicians Wanted’ ads. Bonding over a shared obsession with David Lynch, Wim Wenders and the bittersweet melancholy of The Beach Boys, The Shangri-Las and The Jesus and Mary Chain, their own stories of love and loss blossomed into their first songs. Their broken hearts club soon grew to include like-minded romantics Sundara O’Higgins (guitar), Jonny Fun (bass) and Maggie Fagan (drums). 
 
Blending unwavering voices, fuzzed out organ, pounding drums and melancholic jingle-jangle with a splash of summer, their songs radiate bittersweet 60s girl group naïveté and cinematic escapism. Cave Ghosts is the radio soundtrack to driving on a hot desert night recalling lost loves as neon lights flash by.
 
Off the back of two stand-out contributions to The Community Games compilation on Popical Island, and to Dutch label Candy Twist Records’ compilation album Nobody’s Business, Cave Ghosts return with their debut double A-side single ‘All My Life/Mariposa’ released on Wednesday 25 November 2015. The two songs are melancholic, sun-splashed pop that glitter against the backdrop of hot desert nights. Jen Connell’s voice soars over girl group chants in ‘All My Life’ while Aoife O’Carra’s sweet vocals swirl around brooding guitars on ‘Mariposa’. The singles were recorded and mixed by Ben McAuley (Sea Pinks, Girls Names) at Start Together Studios and Mark Chester (Ginnels) at The Pop Inn and mastered by Fergal Davis (Ben Folds, Sinead O’Connor, Fight Like Apes).

Having already captured hearts and ears at their performances at Castlepalooza and Wales Goes Pop festivals, and shows with PINS, Gavin James, O Emperor and Le Galaxie, Cave Ghosts single pre-orders are now available from www.caveghosts.com. Stay tuned for more info!
