The Long Knives come out of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area and have been around in some fashion since early 2007. The Long Knives mix a variety of different genres into their sound (Punk, Indie Rock, Metal, New Wave, Psych Rock, Shoegaze, Grunge), and have many of their roots in the Indie bands of the 80’s and 90’s. the Long Knives sound is one that is often compared to such early pioneers as Husker Du, Sonic Youth, and Joy Division.
 
The Long Knives first released a live CD from their Germany shows at the NewUSB Festival in Hamburg, DE in 2011, and also returned to Euroope in 2012 for a series of shows in Hamburg, Berlin, and Amsterdam. This was followed up by the first full length release which the band released independently in 2013, “Holy Ghost Points”. The album received considerable National and International airplay and solid reviews as well. It also had The Long Knives mentioned in Rolling Stone Online as one of the Bands To Watch For from the area back in 2013.
 
In 2015, the band released a 5 song EP entitled “By Hook Or By Crook” digitally on Bandcamp. The album was also met with strong reviews, and featured the song “Forget Me, forgive Me” which was included on the Rock Back For Nepal Compilation by Patetico Recordings, which was named the Benefit Album Of The Year by online fanzines such as Forkster. The Long Knives played many shows across the Mid-Atlantic region/East and West coast in support of the EP, and received excellent reviews wherever the band played. The Long Knives also opened for National acts such as The Atari’s and Sick of Sarah when they came to the Pittsburgh area in 2015.
 
In 2016, The Long Knives will be working to release their 2nd Full Length Studio Album to be titled “Fractured Fairy Tales” in the 2016 year which will  be released digitally on Spat Records out of Nashville, and the band continues to progress writing powerful lyrics, and dark, catchy songs that are hypnotic and heavy in their rhythms, and filled with sNk’s pounding beats and WJ’s explosive guitar lines and deep melodic voice that often draws comparison to singers such as Elvis, Jeffrey lee Pierce, and Lyle Lovett amongst others. The band will be embarking on an extended European Tour this year, and is currently in the process of setting up numerous US dates throughout the year, and will be looking to release the new album sometime in the middle of 2016.
