Often mentioned as a "DJ's DJ" he'd preferred to be thought of as a "Fun DJ". Dan is known for co-running the post-punk/no wave reissue label Acute Records, for his italo-disco fandom and for his sole release of naive techno as @newyorkendless on Golf Channel Records @olfhannelecordings among other things.

We visited the discerning chaps down at Amsterdam's Red Light Radio, an online radio station broadcasting from a former prostitution window in the heart of Amsterdam's Red Light District. Nestled comfortably next to Vintage Voudou Records, owners Abel and Tako (and the heavily involved Jamie Tiller) have built up a well considered selection of second hand vinyl covering genres high and low. Knuckle down for a couple hours, this is a perfect introduction to Redlight Records, Music from Memory and one of the best online radio stations in Europe.

New mix comes from our dear friend Camille Bertin aka Plastic Bamboo.
Once based in Manchester, he was into a five piece electropop band called "May68" which released eps on "Hit Club" and famous french-japanese "Kitsune". More and more into electronic music through spending hours at Piccadilly Records with his pal Patrick Ryder, he relocated him in France and quickly joined Les Yeux Orange. He then released an awesome ep for "Bordello A Parigi" and remixes on "Red Laser Records" Under his moniker Alan Dente.
Now operating solo, he opened a YouTube channel of his own, unveiling some of his best digs and oh man he's a passionate and a crazydigger among the best of them ! For us he cooked an unpretentious mix full of hazy disco joints, and pure disco mixes getting rare and rarer these days, we are happy to broadcast it, Cheers Plastic !

Going beyond any concept of retrofuturism, this mix is an exercise in tonal timelessness and rhythmic resilience. Here in this episode he presents us with the same relentless energetic groove that makes his presence in our multiverses so perennial and unique, the one we strive to convey from the beginning to the end, wherever or whenever it may be.

Over the past 22 years I have been recording & adding to a mixtape series begun in 1998 in San Francisco. I started putting together selections from the deeper, “late night” end of my record collection that almost never made their way onto regular DJ mixtapes we were all making in the late nineties. Back in the day before Uber, all those after-hours minicab rides in London were sound tracked by African & Caribbean pirate radio stations playing the most incredible Downtempo Soul, R&B, Roots and Gospel. For me, the better the DJ, the slower BPM they would have the guts to play. And here in London even today, generally speaking, the blacker the party, the slower the music ( and inevitably, the hotter the vibes )…a simple equation really. This 33 hours worth of music features tracks from every genre and every era……the only thing they all have in common is that they would sound pretty dam good at 8am Sunday morning in the back of a minicab on Coldharbour Lane, Brixton.
