Tonight we have 2 excellent selectors from Philadelphia. @billa & @david-alexander-music..I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing live sets from both gents on more than one occasion.. whether it be Spaced Out /Sonic Garden or a Guest set where ever they happen to be booked, I walk away inspired. Bio: BiLla -An artist who has always seen music as an expression of feeling more than a genre. Which curated a collective mindset from an early age to his beloved sound. His exploration began as a drummer in many bands which expanded into a turntablist now for almost 30yrs. He has held residencies in Prague along with various city’s like Albuquerque, Santa Fe, San Francisco and San Diego. He resides now in the Philadelphia area where he is a resident of The Trestle Inn for 7 yrs, along with a partner in the Spaced Out and Sonic Garden events. He is part of the Great Circles online events and various shows on The Lot Radio for 2MR Transmissions. DJing has always been an art to his expression. As the party has always been about the people and a DJ is the soundtrack to it.

WE FORFEIT are back, fresh after the Summer heat waves. And we’ve got a gem from June in Valencia where a very special night took place. 

With a glut of djing talent, WE FORFEIT inaugurated their first night with their good friend Nico aka @neudphoto. With releases on @bordelloaparigi, @mysidian, @pinkmanrecords, and @dearsoil, Nico has an impressive back catalogue. In Killing Time the U.S. born synth artist delivered an incredible live set, one that we have recordings of for this first of the season. 

Opening the two hour session is a young Dj whose heart lies in the golden age of techno. Nahuel got the night going with a cracking set of classic artificial intelligence style electronics. Classics packed!

Robbie’s up next with a slice of his two hour set. Tracks include E.R.P., @egyptianlover, @lucalozano, and lots more.

Moody tones begin Chris’ mix, brighter hues coming as Valencia Bacalao gems sparkle in the muggy Valencia night.

Our headliner, Neud Photo finishes the evening’s entertainment. We’ve brought you 45 minutes of his intense live jam session. Crossing the boundaries of acid, electro, new beat and synth, Nico delivers a session that had bodies sweating and limbs flailing on the Killing Time dancefloor.

When I first met BiLla, I was at the legendary DIY venue 52 hz in West Philadelphia. I got to the party early, and was really engaged with BiLla's opening set for the evening. It was a tasteful blend of classic House and Techno I had no frame of reference for. His selection was completely un-ShaZamable, which made it ever the more novel.

About a year later, I was record shopping at Brewerytown Beats and recognized him. I decided to finally introduce myself. The conversation was uplifting, considering I had no idea how vast his musical knowledge and experience extended, and we both lived in close proximity! I had then kept BiLla on my radar as someone with great taste and good vibes.

Before COVID hit, BiLla was a mainstay and a great source for anyone who wanted to experience a musical journey with his residency at the Trestle Inn. If you've ever been to the Trestle Inn, it's a tucked away, time warp of a venue off the beaten path between Northern Liberties and Chinatown. It's a worthwhile destination spot, and the times I have seen BiLla spin, it's clear this was his domain of expertise, and he knew how to tell a story all night long, entirely on vinyl!

Please enjoy this month's Ancient Puzzle Arts mix BiLla contributed. It's a very tension-and-release blend of breaks, IDM, Detroit techno and electro, all on vinyl, in an impressive 2 hour mix!
