Breaking into the scene in 2018, Armenian artist Socko has made great strides as a DJ playing for the majority of clubs and events in Armenia and Georgia, becoming very popular in his motherland. Opening his production account in 2019 on Pipe and Pochet, Socko is now signed to several influential labels including Behrouz’ Do Not Sit, Shango and down.

Opening with two tracks featuring Romanian artist IV-IN, ‘Queen Is An Eagle’ a low-slung, nu-disco vibe saunters with bluesy vocals. Rubber band guitar licks and sleazy keys provide musical asides as the track gathers momentum midway before an oasis of a break and chunky conclusion.

Next up ‘Ghost is Not Human’ continues apace with nuanced guitars forming the low end, and moody keys punctuating the sombre male vocals. Organ lines midway add energy and interest. Finally, with the vocal talents of D’Litte, the EP draws to a close with ‘Red Wet Dress’. Ticking clock percussion and sweet vocals juxtapose in the most delightful way as a disturbing mutated siren signals the introduction of bass and tension. A thoroughly classy and creatively complex debut for an artist on the cusp of worldwide notoriety.

Caly Jandro, a young upcoming Melbourne based Producer/DJ and founder of the Boogie Beats Collective has brought us something special for his debut. A disco-esque cut, with organic drums and layered jungle sounds featuring a beautiful North African style vocal which really brings the track to life. Caly adds that “once the bulk of the track was done, my friend Steve wholesome.”
On the flip side label members, The Drunken Apaches (one half Out of Sorts & Cyril Orson our designer) take you on a hypnotic rendition. A subtle 303 riff under the mix, with haunting strings, clanking chords and pitched down vocal samples pull this edit together.

Two orange suns burn deep, in a dark starless abyss. They slow dance with one another, soft steady movements in calm controlled unison.
These two suns share the same beat and meet the end of all paths. When Rokia blinks her eyes the two orange suns become hidden beneath folds of darkness, leaving a starless abyss with out light, always only for a short second. Depending on the angle of this black shadow, curves in the darkness are illuminated in motion. Rokia’s shoulder blade cuts a slice of light on its edge as she prowls. Her back trickles with shining droplets as she stretches. Eyes close and suns vanish as she yawns, the darkness unfolding to reveal her large teeth and soft pink tongue. A panther is her favourite form to take. 
She appreciates the privacy of blending in with shadows, which are plenty in this thick African jungle. She waits...
She is always waiting, this time for lost travellers unaware of their misleading intuition. An abundance of wisdom may not be immune to impatiencehowever, and in this moment she decides to hurry what she waiting for.Toward a still lake, she crawls out of the darkness, smoothly emerging from the shadows. As her panther body takes new form, the orange suns rise and set in the black human face of Rokia’s beauty. She is a mother of earth and the queen of her jungle. As all that lives is connected, so is her spirit in all that lives.This naked image of strength and fertility stands on the waters edge as she peers into the still lake.Her burning sun colored eyes illuminate as she observes what is reflected in the water. She see’s a dusty troupe of cowboys riding through a western storm as a sun sets and red full moon rises. Rokia exhales a deep breathe into her closed hand which starts to glow. As she reaches down toward the water, flickering flames dance on the palm of her hand, which she places on the wild west horizon, beckoning the troupe toward her. As if a pebble had dropped into the water, a miraculous ripple expands from the image, revealing a new reflection in the glowing orange eyes of this jungle queen. A shaman monk sits in meditation upon a
water vessel that is floating down the Mekong river of Thailand in his search for the Angel’s Trumpet. Rokia pats the water of the lake she watches him through which guides the boat to where it needs to be. She does not do this selflessly; the intention behind Rokia’s action is always to do with her
own agenda. The Shaman Monk must fulfill his duty for him to find her, and so she assists with his achievement.
Once again a ripple expands from this vision in the water and a new reflection is revealed. A lonely drifter walks aimlessly through the dusty troupe’s western world. He has been stuck in this place for a long time, taking every wrong turn that comes his way. Rokia extends a long lock of her hair and bites into it, cutting it from her head. Her fiery eyes glow again as she whispers to her hair which begins to twist and wrap around her arm, transforming into a rattle snake. She winks at the snake as she reaches into the still water to place it ahead of the drifter, before blowing into the reflection to create a gust of wind that steals his hat and drops it on top of the snake ahead of him. Rokia’s spirit lives in this snake which she will use to guide this drifter toward her, along with the others...

@MireiaRec celebrate their tenth release “ZEHN” with a split EP by Amsterdam’s @Pin-Up-Club and Berlin's Conga Fever. The two originals are accompanied by remixes by Lauer, Jacob Korn and RSS Disco.

Pin Up Club’s “Dilapidated” is a true synth-workout with hard-hitting claps.

@RSS Disco channel the track into a psychedelic journey with a distinctive Italo feeling.  A frayed lead melody interwoven with moist Oberheim chords and backed up by old-schoolish drums and a classic arpeggiated Juno Bassline ignite neon lights and incense at the same time.

Being seasoned DJs that know how to read a crowd, RSS Disco seem to feel at home in a broad variety of terrains: Be it their remix of indie/lofi sleeper hit “In Dreams” by Tomemitsu or vintage indian upbeat psychfunk with Rupa’s “Aaj Shanibar”. Their remix of “Dilapidated” is no exception in a string of quality music.

“ZEHN” is a diverse and worthwhile entry into Mireia Record’s catalogue, feeling right at home with their back catalogue of always interesting serious/not so serious dance music with a melancholic twist.

Making their debut on Eskimo Recordings this March, Berlin producers Franz Matthews & Local Suicide’s ‘Meditation / Tutan Jamon‘ was a heady brew of psychedelic disco that joined the dots between the German capital and the sun soaked souks of North Africa.

Hailed as “propulsive and zen” by Resident Advisor and championed by DJs including Dj T, Red Axes, Perel & Acid Washed, the tracks have now been giving a fresh rub, with Eskimo going one better even than the genie from the Arabian Nights and fulfilling 4 wishes summoning up remixes from Manfredas, Chaim, NTEIBINT and The Oddness.

First out of the trap is Lithuanian producer Manfredas. Having made a name for himself with releases on labels like Les Disques de la Mort, Multi Culti and I’m A Cliché, Manfredas turns in a head spinning remix of Tutan Jamon, teasing out and extending the track in a masterclass of delayed gratification that eventually dissolves into acidic bleeps and drones. Tel Aviv’s Chaim remix of Tutan Jamon meanwhile sees the sometime Bpitch Control and Disco Halal producer up the tempo whilst losing none of the original’s exotic vibe. In his hands the track becomes a propulsive and trippy disco number perfect for late summer parties under the stars.

Eskimo stalwart NTEIBINT is up next with his reinterpretation of Meditation. Once again the Greek producer goes to show just why the label has him on speed dial, delivering a stunning remix with Vamparela’s vocals and a hypnotic bass line combining to mesmerising effect.

Finally fresh from remixing Satin Jackets Australian rising star The Oddness returns to Eskimo with his own spaced out take on Meditation. Keeping the tempo slow and low the Melbourne producer unravels the track, pulling apart its constituent parts and allowing them all to float free.
