Welcome to the new episode of THEMAN MIX SERIES. In this episode, we would like to introduce you to Monty Hasan, the future generation of Soulful DJs from Jakarta, Indonesia. His blend of soulful and jazzy house to Latin vibes set will soothe you between your busy days. It's something for you to enjoy on any given day. It's summer here all year long. Enjoy.

BIO

Monty Hasan is an Indonesian-American entrepreneur, music producer and DJ. He is currently based in Jakarta and co-founded Bebop: Bar + Kitchen in December 2022. As Music Director, he oversaw the bar as the new hotspot for soulful, dynamic, underground music in Senopati.

Since 2015, Monty has been an avid member of the Jakarta and Bali music scenes. He regularly performs his signature sound, which he calls “The Booty Groove” – a unique blend of house, jazz, latin, disco, and soul; it's distinctly heard across his setlists and music productions.

Raised internationally between multiple countries, Monty believes in the power of fusion and building bridges. In this next chapter of his career, he plans to highlight Jakarta on the international underground music circuit, hosting guest artists and promoting Indonesian talent to the world.

We cannot cut the monster's head off. It has too many. Everywhere.
War. Famine. Palestine. Imperialism. Capitalism. Climate change. Celebrity culture, porn and human trafficking. It is all connected.

I still have hope we can starve the monster to death. After all, we are the hand that feeds it. We are the monster's slaves and simultaneously we are its fuel. We serve it with our attention, our thoughts, our obedience. We feed it with our time, our resources, our money and our souls. And collectively we are the monster.

Boycotts work ✅. "Support your friends!" works ✅. "Buy nothing new!" works ✅. 
But that requires us to confront the monster within: Our wants, our desires, our convenience. Our need for approval and our ego. Our beliefs, our behavior, our discipline.

Humans are creators, that have been conditioned to consume. We outsource happiness and attach it to things outside of ourselves. 
We must resist our programming and do the inner work. Fearlessly.
