Groundwerk Recordings is a label driven by ART>EGO. Groundwerk's sound reflects the moody depth of an urban landscape existing between ocean and forest. From bright outgoing summer days to dark and heavy winter nights, our releases aim to tell the story of the four seasons experienced in our west coast city. 
Music featured on Groundwerk Recordings has sprouted from grassroots electronic music community initiatives in Vancouver, Canada. The most predominant of these initiatives is the Groundwerk Listening Party, a monthly social meet-up for electronic music enthusiasts to connect and collaborate. With these events gaining momentum, Groundwerk Recordings is born, ready to present its community to the world.
We launch with an EP from Diana Boss, a production duo that has been with us since Groundwerk Listening Party 001. 
The single West Coast, featuring lyrics and vocals from Vancouver artist Elle Wolf, soars over the coastline and with guitar arpeggios and a hint of synth driven-hardness. 
The B-side Legacy is a sassy bassline driven stomper with a wide-open drop.
Karsten Sollors' West Coast remix takes the single deeper and later into the party, delivering a lower groove that sits well in a tech-house set.

We’re deep in the dog days of Summer, so it’s only appropriate we turn up the heat with a bit of fire from our “Summer Funk” release, featuring four bangers from four different artists.

Lee Walker makes his debut on Dirtybird with “Rock Climber”, a ferocious track with build-ups and build-downs that make you feel like you’re on an unforgiving rollercoaster. Huge.

Weiss has been a favorite of ours the past year, and follows up his recent Dirtybird EP with “Bounce”. It does exactly what it says, with Weiss’ trademark mixture of jackin beats, underground boom and a bit of amusement.

Lord Leopard first appeared with Eats Everything in March on one of our biggest EPs of the year, and goes solo with “As Gospel”. The contagious lead line swirls in and out over a dark set of drums and bass that will certainly contribute to Lord’s rapid ascent as an artist to watch.

Bump Ugly’s “Lost My Mind” rounds out the EP with animated beats and bass that dance along with quirky bleeps and blips for a funky Summer ride.

This is not my normal production style however, I have been feeling compelled to put some positive energy out there so invited friends to record the spoken words "I Love You." It's also featuring John F Kennedy's speech that ended the cold war. I hope it sends a message of love and peace.
