'Chocky' theme to the 1984 television series, based on John Wyndham's science-fiction novel.  The original track called 'Coral' by Astral Sound and was composed and produced by John Hyde of Astral Sounds.

An atmospheric intro as the machines approach and echo their eerie call leading into the main opening theme, then a bridged piece leading into the closing theme.  A marvellous mid-80s heavy-synth score written and performed by Ken Freeman.  
Remixed and extended by The Mekon for that ultimate Tripods theme.  
The Tripods television series is owned by the BBC and the music is owned by Ken Freeman.

A reworking of the Dalek Hatching Tanks on Skaro from the 1978 album 'BBC Sound Effects No.19 - Doctor Who Sound Effects'.  
Although initially pretty close to the televised sound effect as featured in the serial 'Genesis of the Daleks' (1975), I felt that it lacked a few underlying sounds that were heard in the original scene.  
So with that in mind, I've added some subtle sounds such as a pulsing life-support, various bubbling effects and a panning sample of the 'squirming' direct from the original scene.

Dalek Hatching Tanks (redux) - Doctor Who Sound Effects

A reworking of the 'Wind-Mine Machine' from the 1978 album 'BBC Sound Effects No.19 - Doctor Who Sound Effects'.  The Wind-Mining Machine was featured in the serial 'Robots of Death' (1977).  
I always felt that this was the weakest track on the album, basically 2 minutes of non-stop, headache-inducing engine noise chugging along in mono with no variation or atmosphere.  It definitely lacked the splendor and majesty to what we saw on-screen. So with that in mind, I've added some atmospheric sounds (mainly various strengths of wind) as the machine approaches chasing the mineral sandstorm, warning horns echo in the bleak landscape, grinders, hydraulics opening the vents to the sand-scoop, crashing boulders and finally passing by as the storm changes direction.

A reworking of the 'Shrine of the Sisterhood of Karn' from the 1978 album 'BBC Sound Effects No.19 - Doctor Who Sound Effects'. The Sisterhood were featured in the serial 'The Brain of Morbius' (1976).  Sound effect tweaked with additional incantation from the Sisterhood.  Respect the Sacred Flame!

A reworking of the 'Zygon Spaceship Control Centre' from the 1978 album 'BBC Sound Effects No.19 - Doctor Who Sound Effects'.  Additional sounds have been layered on top such as background hum, doors, control panels, communication alert, the Skarasen creature, alarm and Zygon body print transformation.

A modern and layered reworking of Tristram Cary's 'Daleks' electronic score and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop sounds created in the 1960s.

You are a Time Lord sent on a mission from the High Council of Gallifrey to infiltrate and observe future Daleks on the planet Skaro in order to gain the upper hand in the Time War.

(1) Nightfall on Skaro, upon arrival in your TARDIS Type 70 you step out on to the bleak, dense and petrified forest on the outskirts of the Dalek city.  Your communication and homing device will help guide you to your destination as well as give readings of any high levels of radioactivity, although it does seem to be experiencing some glitches due to the heavy bombardment of electrically charged atmospheric conditions.

(2) Outside the detectable zone; a fair distance from the city, you gradually make your way through the thick, dead forest growth, the winds sweeping ash dust in the air.

(3) Startled from long-dead petrified creatures that once roamed the forest, you run as fast as your feet can take you, hearts pounding, your mind playing tricks on you, tree branches seeming to dance in the shadows and flashes of light from the lightning above.  Swiftly regain your composure and focus on your mission.

(4) The ground begins to soften beneath your feet and soon you reach the swamps, sounds of mysterious mutated creatures fill the air, an unnerving presence consumes you as though being watched from an unseen menace that lurks within the swamp growth.

(5) The soft glow from the city begins to filter through the reeds as they become thinner as you edge your way to firmer grounds, the clearing giving way to the strange mechanical echoes emanating from the city.
(6)The majesty of the Dalek City stands before you, one more natural obstacle to overcome, a treacherous rock face.  Cut and grazed, you scramble upwards, lose rocks falling from your grips and footholds.

(7) Finally, you are on the lower levels of the city, the gleaming smooth metal floors beneath your feet.  Colossal towers reach high above, almost into the black, angry clouds.  Huge electric arcs spark and snake upwards, humming and cracking as they vapourise the surrounding air. 
You finally reach an entrance door and hack into it with your Time Lord technology, the door slides open to reveal a long interior corridor that stretches and divides the further it goes.  Your instruments instructing you where to go, passing many doors and walls with windows that reveal strange mechanical machinery, impressive even by Time Lord technology.

(8) The maze of corridors leading you closer and closer to the main Central Control Room, you're almost there, you can hear the Daleks.  
Take care, you need to get your temporal device locked on to their main Power Hub.

Forbidden Planet - Main Theme (1956)

Screen Test was a U.K. children's quiz show about films, showed the occasional behind the scenes segments and more importantly showcased young filmaker's films (pre-video days) between quiz rounds including an annual prize for best Young Filmmaker, most notable being a young Nick Park whom went on to create Wallace & Gromit. 
Broadcast from 18 November 1970 to 20 December 1984 on BBC1. It was first hosted by Michael Rodd, who was succeeded by Brian Trueman and Mark Curry.

The programme's military-style theme tune was called "Marching There and Back", composed by Syd Dale.

The Master - [Massey Mix]  (Doctor Who)

Ever since I was a kid I've always loved the vinyl LP of this one-off story (a present from my mum during a visit to Blackpool in 1980).  
Looking back on it now I feel as though it lacked the splendor of DW's music maestro, Dudley Simpson.
So just for a fun experiment, an excerpt from the LP, the first four minutes (where originally there was no music at all!) now with injected with Dudley's music.

Mark Ayres' provisional arrangement of Delia Derbyshire's Doctor Who theme (composed by Ron Grainer) for the first cut of story one of the revived series in 2005.  The pre-broadcast reel was for advanced showings for the press/media and had the Derbyshire/Ayres mix instead of the Murray Gold arrangement.  The reel somehow was leaked onto the world wide web a week or two prior to broadcast in March 2005.  If you're familiar with the theme, you'll notice the subtle changes in arrangement.

Doctor Who Dance Remix (Techno 1990s redux edit)

The Children of the Stones theme is an unusual, atmospheric production with sinister, discordant wailing voices. The music was composed by Sidney Sager who used the Ambrosian Singers to chant in accordance with the megalithic rituals referred to in the story.  
Remixed and bridged by The Mekon.  
Originally broadcast in 1976 and produced by HTV, Children of the Stones was filmed in Avebury, Wiltshire (UK) and is regarded as one of the most seminal and spookiest children's series of the 1970s.

Adam Adamant Lives! - Theme composed by Hal Shaper and David Lee sung by Kathy Kirby.  The BBC television series which ran from 1966 to 1967 starring Gerald Harper in the title role. An adventurer born in 1867 with having vanished in 1902 during Edward VII first year on the throne. He is then found in a state of hibernation and is revived in 1966, the show was a comedy adventure that took a satirical look at life in the 1960s through the eyes of an Edwardian gentleman.

Joby Talbot composed the theme and score for BBC Two's dark and twisted comedy series The League of Gentlemen, for which he was awarded the Royal Television Society Award for Best Title Music and which he would continue to score throughout its three series and film, The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse (2005).

Captain Zep - Space Detective. The "Captain Zep" theme tune was written by David Owen Smith and Paul Aitken and performed by The Spacewalkers.
The Children's BBC series from 1983 was constructed as part drama and part quiz game.  Captain Zep featured mysteries that would be solved by the child audience in the studio, along with a write-in competition for viewers. Also notable for its combination of live action and animation, where the cast would interact with drawn alien characters amidst drawn backgrounds.
