 Ibrahim Maalouf is a trumpeter who is also a composer and arranger for trumpet. He also teaches trumpet. He was born on December 5, 1980 in Beirut, Lebanon, but now lives in France.
Ibrahim Maalouf is the son of trumpeter Nassim Maalouf and pianist Nada Maalouf, a nephew of the writer Amin Maalouf, and the grandson of journalist, poet and musicologist Rushdi Maalouf. He is currently the only trumpet player in the world to play Arabic music with the trumpet in fourth tones, using a technique his father invented in the 1960s. Ibrahim is also the winner of some of the greatest classical trumpet competitions in the world.

Sintetizzatrice is the first recorded document of the collaboration between veteran DJ and producer Donato Dozzy and female vocalist Anna Caragnano. Through his solo work, and in his collaboration with Giuseppe Tilleci (Neel) as Voices from the Lake, Dozzy has achieved some of the most remarkable vistas contemporary electronic music has seen since the turn of this century. By removing himself from his areas of mastery to shift his focus on the voice, he has achieved a new peak with Sintetizzatrice. Over nine tracks, Dozzy works exclusively with the voice of Rome-based vocalist Anna Caragnano, with no other instruments. Heavy layering and effects processes are used to display an astoundingly versatile voice-centric vocabulary. Rarely can a record morph from R&B to kosmische, through traditional Italian folk music, to Fluxus styles and traditional chamber choir with no additional instrumentation. Just a singular, beautiful voice. The results are simply phenomenal. With the opening, "Introduzione," an immeasurable cosmic weight arrives and remains through the duration of the album. "Star Cloud" ascends with melancholy extended drones that evaporate concepts like time and being, rendering basic human perceptions void all the way through "Parallelo." "Parola" dances around the stereo field with dazing rhythms and melodies, while "Festa (A Mottola)" is an homage to the traditional music found in the rural region where, coincidentally, both Dozzy's mother and Caragnano were born and raised. The album's closing pieces "Love Without Sound" and "Conclusione" hit hard in a way to which no words can do justice. By fearlessly entering uncharted territories, Dozzy and Caragnano have made a collaboration which is truly experimental. Sintetizzatrice is a grand debut for Anna Caragnano and a fantastic twist for Donato Dozzy. Produced and mixed by Dozzy at Alaska Studio, Rome, in 2014. Mastered by Giuseppe Tilleci at EnissLab Studio, Rome. Transferred to tape by Pietro Micioni, Angelo Compagnoni, and Massimo Zuccaroli at Village Studio, Rome. Sometimes the chords are all I need and I don't want to muddy the waters with much else. This was one of those tracks, so I decided to avoid any big drums and just let Christian's beautiful melody and my added Prophet chords grow a little throughout, held together with some vocals from the original looped up. It's just a simple piece of music.

I didn’t upload any of my productions over the past 1,5 years, but I have been making music more than ever. 
I didn’t upload any of those tracks yet because my personal expectations became much higher. When I work on sets it takes me months of collecting and arranging all those carefully chosen tracks. When I work on my productions, I really go into detail and spend months perfecting the production, arrangement and mix... because I really want to tell a story with my music! I can’t wait to be done with my studies and solely focus on my music. Until then my output will be rare, that I’m sure of. 

But the day has come: I am finally uploading a new track of mine. A reinterpretation of Ludovico Einaudi’s “Una Mattina”. I took me quite a while to finish it, I even had it mastered two times, but now I just have to upload it to give you a glimpse of what I’ve been doing and how I’ve evolved over the past months (and to not go totally crazy while remixing and rearranging it another thousand times). 
And let me tell you one more thing... the best is yet to come! 😊

This set was recorded at a live concert at Om Kahlthom Hotel, Cairo on November 24th 2017 as part of Red Bull Music 'Jamhoureya' which saw four cutting-edge Egyptian electronic producers collaborate with traditional musicians from four different rural areas of the country.

Hassan Abou Alam is an internationally acclaimed producer on MIDI Life Records known for his dark techno, but has been recently been finding his sound with more noise-based music. Abou Alam selected the ancient Egyptian city of Luxor, where he and his collaborators engaged in musical conversation under primordial cliffs. Having rarely collaborated with other musicians before, Jamhoureya was a huge dive in the deep-end and no one, the musicians included expected the endearing new sound that emerged from Abou Alam's ambient beats and the elongated chorus of the locals' finest vocalists.

Here it is, my set from this years Feel Festival! <3 
I must say, I find it always quite difficult to play short DJ-Sets because it doesn't give me the time I need to really experiment and explore different moods. So, knowing that I would only have 1,5 hours to tell my story I tried to not stick to one mood but explore a lot of different tracks and play a rather diversified set. I feel like after 4 days of festival this can be quite refreshing! I ended up playing a little while longer after all but I decided to only load up the first 1,5 hours of my set anyways. 
Thanks to everyone that stopped by and made this possible. Looking forward to everything that's yet to come. Picking up a lot of inspiration on this little festival journey which I'll translate into loads of new music soon!
