Recorded during a spontaneous session held in a kitchen in Jan 2007, this version of the song became a massive Myspace favourite for the band.

This is the first official recording of the song, which over the next 3 years would be attempted a further three times as a single, leading to yet another uncanny parallel to The La's and their multiple attempts at trying to capture one of their most popular songs 'There She Goes'. 

Get Outta Your Bed(kitchen demo)

Taken from the 2006 album 'Introducing.... The Midbeats'.

This is one of the first batch of Midbeats songs recorded during the 'lost week' at a cottage somewhere along the Welsh border when the band first formed.

A previous version of this song features on chief mid Matt Dowell's own album 'It's Now Or Never' released just before the bands conception in Spring 2005.

Get On The Bus

Taken from the 2008 album 'Stuart Street'.

Recorded in the style of legendary producer Joe Meek, this was actually the first song to be recorded at Dowell and Pickering's home studio in Stuart Street; the street that would eventually give the name to the album the song would feature on. 

This is one of only two tracks from the album to actually feature the bands drummer Al Burns(usually Dowell or Pickering would take that role in the studio); in this case he played the bongos on this track.

The song itself was actually written before The Midbeats formed but remained incomplete until late 2006, when Dowell recorded the song alone.  

At Last I Forget

Taken from the 2008 album 'Stuart Street'. 

This song is regarded as one of the bands 'classics' by fans of the group.

I Hope So

This was the bands first single released in Feb 2008.

It features the bands second line up of Matt Dowell, Andy Pickering, Dave Dorman and Alistair Burns.

It was recorded by 'less is more' guru and mentor to the band, Fran Ashcroft, in a studio up in Liverpool.

The band undertook a heavy promotional push for this single, which eventually paid off and helped the band sign to indie label Audio Edge in early 2009.

Some of the information on the poster seen on the front cover artwork for the single, are secret references that few outside the bands circle would be aware of.

The opening track to the album, this was seen as a potential follow up single to 'You Can't Complain' at the time, after the bands unsuccessful attempt at recording 'Get Outta Your Bed' with producer Fran Ashcroft for the same purpose shortly before.

After an unsuccessful first attempt at recording the song as a follow up single to 'You Can't Complain' with producer Fran Ashcroft in Liverpool, the band decided to re-attempt it themselves at their home studio in Stuart Street, Leicester.

Even Ashcroft, who must have been aware of the bands dissatisification with his version, agreed that their own recording was much better and held more of the vibe captured in the original kitchen demo recorded two years before.
 
This recording features the bands third line up of Matt Dowell, Andy Pickering, Alistair Burns and Graham Pym.
