We Rock the Mic is a project of The Mix at Arbor Place, an afterschool program for kids ages 7-17 in Lancaster City, PA. "We Rock the Mic" guides at-risk students through a structured creative program, where students learn how to write and perform their own poetry. Students gain knowledge of literature, the poetic form, and self expression while developing positive leadership skills. Spoken word and slam poetry act as a vessel for youth to learn positive expression and leadership in one's community.
