. IQ is a value that numerically expresses people's intelligence potential. IQ is calculated by the formula: 



IQ = ( Intelligence age/real age ) x 100



In this formula, the unknown value is the age of intelligence. Intelligence age is a value that shows the person's level of mental development. The age of intelligence is determined by the score received from a stand-detached test that evaluates the mental skills of the person's age. For example, if a 10-year-old boy gets a score at age 12 from a test that evaluates mental skills that are 10 years old, this child's intelligence age is 12. In this case, the child's IQ is calculated as follows: 



IQ = (12/10) x 100 = 120
 


 Date and Development of 
IQ Test 

The history of the 
IQ test dates back to the early 20th century. The first IQ test was developed by the French psychologist Alfred Binet. Binet designed a test to measure students' mental development levels at the request of the government seeking to reform the education system in France. Binet's test consisted of questions evaluating verbal and numerical skills. Binet has classified students according to their intelligence age according to the test results. 

The test of 
Binet was developed by the German psychologist William Stern. Stern introduced the concept of IQ by proportioning the age of intelligence to real age. Stern's formula is the standard IQ formula used today. 

The 
IQ test has been further popularized by the American psychologist Lewis Terman. Terman revised Binet's test and created a test called Stanford-Binet. Terman's test has been used in military elections, training and recruitment in America. 

The 
IQ test was developed in different ways by different psychologists throughout the 20th century. For example, David Wechsler has created two tests called Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) for adults and Wechsler Children's Intelligence Scale (WISC) for children. These tests consisted of two subdivisions: verbal and performance. Wechsler's tests are among the most used IQ tests today. 




The 
IQ test is a constantly developing area today. Psychologists develop different types of IQ tests to measure different dimensions of intelligence. In addition, with the effect of technology, IQ tests have been moved to online platforms.
