Exploring the fringes betwixt indie/prog-rock-infused melodic
scapes and daringly off-kilter electronics, the name of French jockey and
producer Cosmo Vitelli has become synonymous with deep, no-holds-
barred forays into uncharted territories and full body-&amp;-soul sonic
immersion. Schooled to the sound of guitars, it’s when associated with a
4-track tape recorder that young Cosmo eventually felt the epiphany take
place, leading him to start dabbling in production as the French Touch
was soaring towards worldwide popular acclaim. That was just the beginning.

In the following mix that he delivered to us he blends kosmische-infused stuff.  A multi-layered musical flow from dubish electronica to art rock and folk,  jazzy electro to Cosmic Disco and post punk leading us to an ever- expanding creative vision.

Biography: 
Born on the outskirts of Toronto, Farhan found his way into the rave scene at the tender young age of 19. He quickly developed a niche for himself as a raver, a DJ, and a co-founder of the "Untitled" DIY event series. He gathers his inspiration through shared moments on the dance floor - as this is the place that unites us all.

This inspiration can be found in his DJ sets, as he likes to take dancers on journey through the various scopes of electronic music. Though the focus is on techno, you wont be surprised to hear tinges of ambient, industrial, electro, ghetto, EBM, and everything in between.

In addition to his DJ'ing endeavours, Farhan has been apart of the local Toronto techno scene working with, and organizing a well known series of events called "Untitled". His involvement with Untitled has allowed him to push the sound of techno throughout the city, striving to create spaces for like-minded techno lovers, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and its allies all under one roof.

Now living in Berlin, Farhan is continuing his journey as a DJ and representative in the industry. Currently he is working with Quest Agency as a booking agent, and has played DJ sets at: Griessmuhle, STAUB (://About Blank), Kantine Am Berghain, and Club Church (Amsterdam - LockeRRoom sex party).

Thinking about the times where we could feel the bass in our chests and dance for hours on end. The times where you could literally feel the sweat dripping off the ceiling, bodies rubbing against each other, and dance-floors heaving in unison. 

2020 was supposed to be "our" year they say, well to start 2020 I was fortunate enough to grace the decks at Griessmuhle for a post New Years Eve party. This would be the first and the last time.

For this episode and for the followings, I wanted to give the floor to some artists I admire and respect a lot. I believe everyone has ideas, a voice, opinions they want to fight for. I believe we can aspire for a better future world through music. Today, I have invited @farhan_music to record a Mixing for a Cause podcast.

Farhan: “Marsha P. Johnson was an American gay liberation activist and self-identified drag queen. Known as an outspoken advocate for gay rights, Johnson was one of the prominent figures in the Stonewall uprising of 1969. A founding member of the Gay Liberation Front, Johnson co-founded the radical activist group Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (S.T.A.R.), alongside close friend Sylvia Rivera. She claimed that the "P" in her name stood for "Pay it no mind", which was often used as a retort when asked about her gender. 

The idea behind this mix was to draw attention to queer & BIPOC artists, with a focus on trans artists/rights, from all across the scope of sound within electronic music. You will hear ambient music, activism speeches, house music, electronic classics, trance, techno, breaks, and other stuff outside the range of what you might normally listen to - keep your mind and your ears open!

Representation is EVERYTHING and I firmly believe that the music scene needs a kick in the ass to be more inclusive, which is why I wanted to use my platform to draw attention to the queers in the world doing it big. Electronic music was founded on forward thinking and progressive values but it seems like the mainstream has left its roots behind; this needs to change. For further reading I have attached some links regarding queer rights, trans representation and more!

There is a lot of music that I did not get to play unfortunately so I also wanted to share this spreadsheet made by Chippy Nonstop via Intersessions, which features Black Femme Identifying Electronic DJs/Producers/Artists. I highly recommend digging through this list.

Lastly, I want to take this opportunity to give a special shoutout to producers in the Toronto queer scene that I have a deep respect for: Myst Milano, Chippy Nonstop, Boy Pussy, Bliptor, Soft Matter, and more who I am definitely sleeping on. There is so much diverse talent in our city - keep making the good shit yall!”
