Still vibin’ high after my - second this year - appearance at the sound and music temple Gota Satsom, in Alto Paraiso, Brazil, this time strictly for Turkish Sufi music!

For years I have been talking with musician Lucas Villarim who is resident at Gota and wanted to meet and jam with him and the opportunity appeared.

We met two hours before the performance, talked, shared our musical ideas, philosophies, composed on the fly, shared instruments and sounds and I could fel that we would have a great result.

And we did!

In softness, with delicacy, in prayer, in listening and feeling one another, in unison...

The songs we performed are both traditional Turkish Sufi/Folk songs and own compositions.

This is a composition of Lucas Villarim that I have heard before on the internet but we performed for the first time together!

"La Illaha Illallah, Allahu Akbar" means "There is no God than God, God is Great" in Arabic and it is a phrase commonly used in Sufi & Islamic prayers, songs and everyday expression.

It is not an easy song because of its singing melody which is quite elaborated but hey... I gave it a try :)

The song was originally sung by Ghazal Shakeri, a famous actress, director, costume designer and singer from Tehran Iran.

This is - by far - my most favorite Sufi song of all times and one that has transformed so many times until its find its final version.

Many memories, many circles and many fires... "Seni Ben Severim" is almost a classic in the Turkish Sufi circles, inspired by the words of the Turkish Sufi mystic and poet, Yunus Emre.

Hi!
My name is Dimitri Dermencioglu and I am an artist who "lives in music".

Throughout 32 years in the world of music, I have changed many hats and have been known under different names.

All those names turned into temporary personas/projects that gifted me with extensive experience in the areas of music, celebration and ritual, also took me around the world.

Today, my experiences, has become a school of thought, study and practice

A living experience in the exploration, study and sharing of diverse musical approaches and schools of thought/practice, blending and influenced by tradition and modernity, spirituality & and science, celebration & and meditation.

A living school of the science and mysticism of medicinal music, as practised around the world for aeons!

Whether through the mediums of ethnomusicology, music therapy, instrumentalism, composition, DJ ing, or event organisation, the mission of "The Music Medicine" is to use music and celebration as a learning process.
