	Conceptualized December of 2011 by guitarists Birtchum Thompson and Steve Baquero, The Odds; Defied.'s story begins in Birtchum's apartment in the heart of the ghetto, or "hood", of Pine Manor.  Pine Manor is a neighborhood in Fort Myers, Florida, that has been stricken by daunting poverty and is widely known for its high crime activity, not unlike any other ghetto in America.  With little more than two guitars, hope, and a vision, and with gunshots erupting just outside the windows, Birtchum and Steve put on their blinders, went to the drawing board, and began to write.  Vowing to fight their way out of their current situation, and to use their talents and skills to leave an impact on the world in a positive manner, they took on the challenge and began to search for like-minded individuals.  
	With a few songs put together, they approached singer Gary Sloan, who in their opinion, was the perfect fit, and the perfect voice for the project.  Gary, apprehensive at first due to the fact of being in two bands already, sat down and listened to the songs, and immediately decided that he was in.  Not only did he love the music, but he also possessed a burning passion to share with the world the importance of never giving up, despite how overwhelming and terrible the circumstances or calamities may be that are afflicting us.  With a common vision, and a heart set on success, Gary began to craft the incredibly intimate, personal, and motivating masterpieces that were to become the songs that we all love and hold dear to our hearts today.
	The Odds; Defied. were off to a strong start with the addition of Gary to the project, but they were still lacking their entire rhythm section; the core of any great metal band.  Finding a great drummer and a capable bass player that aren't already a part of an established act in southwest Florida can prove to be a nearly impossible feat, but with a steadfast, unwavering belief in their message, they began to seek out said elusive individuals.
	Birtchum and Steve took a fairly unorthodox approach to finding the band's rhythm section.  Straying from the ever-so-popular craigslist and other internet connection sites, they stuck to their roots and took this obstacle head on the old-fashioned, organic way; going to shows and actually talking to people.  It was at one such show that Steve happened to notice a guy with a tattoo of a drum set on his arm.  Knowing fully well that most people do not get a drum kit tattooed on themselves unless they are a fairly serious drummer, Steve wasted no time in striking up a conversation with him.  As it turns out, their suspicions were correct and he was, indeed, a drummer (Dylan Friedman).  And what's more, his best friend (Ryan Meisenheimer) was, you guessed it, a bass player.  Upon hearing a few tunes, both Dylan and Ryan also committed to the project, bringing with them not only their unparalleled talent and skill, but also a clear and intense sense of focus, dedication, and the drive and groove that is at the heart of The Odds; Defied.'s brand of music.
	With all of the key players in place, The Odds; Defied. is committed to preserving the message of perseverance through elaborate and well-crafted music as a medium.  The collaboration of these five amazingly focused individuals, and the message that they promote, will continue to propel their artwork well beyond the point of their wildest dreams.
