'Goethe Institut and the Berlin Club Commission invited me for a show, talks, studio and DJ workshops to Yangon, capital of Myanmar - the country formerly known as Burma. Lucky me could travel with Lutz Leichsenring, Sascha Disselkamp and Lola Luc, get inspired and meet local talent through musician and social worker Darko C. 
One day my mission was to find the 'D.I.Y Studio' run by Logn Logne with only a little piece of paper with an address in Burmese signs. Adventure time. 
I met a bunch of local musicians, young producers and writers like i2, Hein Htet (MJN), Right D and T-Zin for a little session. I basically started to cut up a beat out of the field recordings I've made the days before and showed the guys how I make use of found sound sometimes to weave aural memories into music. 
They jumped on the groove and came up with different ideas on their instruments and computers. From this jam I took a bunch of loops and sounds home, where I also checked through all my recorded mobile phone video bits. I thought of a piece, that works as a little self-explanatory report what happened on the whole impressive journey where I could learn a lot about high life, low life and freedom - as I basically do all the time making a living with music I love.
Many thanks to everyone I met over there in Myanmar, the crew from the Berlin homebase, Max H. Raeder for the video editing and the Punchi towelscarf to prove useful in tropical heat. Yangon State is the finale of OUTTAKES season one. To be continued. 1love ' C:

Dave Lee’s cover of Rainbow Brown’s “Till You Surrender” was originally released on ZR in the mid 90s and it featured one of Taka Boom’s strongest vocal performances. 

The song has been ear marked for re-release for some time and now we give you a stonking new disco house re-work from DJ Fudge. 

Written By Patrick Adams (Inner Life, Musique and many other disco classics) “Till You Surrender” is super anthemic and combined with Fudge’s classy but energetic string heavy mix it’s a sure-fire dancefloor winner that's perfect for the current disco revival.

Henrique Oliveira aka HNQO, is the man responsible for this exciting full album release on DOC Records.  HNQO  is one of the fastest rising young stars in the techno, house and indie dance scene in Brazil.

Causing much attention and hype with his recent EP release on DOC Records (Balinese Death – also featured in MAGNUM VOL 1) and having reach the  #1 spot at Hot Creations Top selling single, it is time to introduce his first album "The Old Door", (influenced by Marlin Stimming and Anders Trentemøller, two of his heroes). 

A weird string sound marks the opening of "The OId Door".  By mixing old sounds with new ideas, while recording different instruments, the track shows HNQO’s life and it features Urzula Amen in the vocals.  "The Death of the Elephant” is a soundtrack to remind us how destructive humankind has been to nature. Using sounds of Pizzicato Violin, "40s Cartoon” continues to take us on a journey through the artist’s imagination.  

The album is filled with the Henrique life moments during the year it took to produce the album.  For an example in "Egyptian Lover" HNQO describes how nice it would have been to have a lover flying overnight.  On this track, Russian singer Cotry interprets the lyrics.  "Fallen Angel" is a dramatic piece telling a story still about flying.  "If" is another collaboration with the amazing Urzula Amen.  

As we get closer to the end, when its finally time, “Light a Cigarette” reaches a melancholic state where all melodies were recorded with eyes shut and in complete darkness.  A spiritual moment that became Henrique’s favorite track of this project.  The scratch of a match, the flame and then a foggy synth that releases all the feelings in sound waves. 

The album cover was inspired on a door.  A door that HNQO was able to enter by playing certain keys on his synths, percussions, and strings that allowed him to reach an organic level while making it all a bit more human in terms of groove construction.

A poem from Rai Knight was the perfect fit to give the density for the digital bonus track. To get a better feel of what this album has to say, HNQO invites you to open “The Old Door".

20 Years of Milk & Sugar - The Album 

On October 20, Germany’s dynamic double act Milk & Sugar will release a special CD artist album to commemorate their 20th anniversary, distributed via their label Milk & Sugar Recordings.

Since forming in 1997, Mike Kay and Steven Harding aka Milk & Sugar have lived a career most DJs would dream of. They’ve performed globally alongside dance royalty such as Frankie Knuckles and David Morales, remixed on request the likes of Jamiroquai, Janet Jackson & Ben Pearce, and have continued to supply dance floors with a steady stream of powerful hits, both via their own imprint and on revered labels such as Enormous Tunes, Positiva, Ministry of Sound and many more.

Despite boasting such an impressive back-catalogue, the pair were keen to ensure the album wasn’t solely focused on the past. "We didn´t want to simply release a best of album with all of our past singles and remixes” they explain. “So we went to the studio and created new productions that sonically offer a more modern, electronic focused sound.”

These sessions lead to the creation of the duo’s three 2017 singles ‘Higher & Higher (Milk & Sugar remix)’, ‘Music Is Moving’ and most recently, their euphoric house anthem ‘Summertime’ – tracks all included on the album. Other new productions present include the soul-infused ‘Where Do We Go’, featuring English singer Jo Hall, the pulsating club-ready banger ‘You And I’, with Aquarian Dreams and their 2017 version of their timeless hit, ‘Let The Sun Shine’ – a song which reached No.1 in the US-Billboard Dance and Airplay charts upon release in 2003.

Despite the focus on the new, the album still features several of the duo’s most celebrated hits. This includes the euphoric-groover ‘My Lovin’ featuring iconic soul singer, Barbara Tucker (who also appears on ‘Needin U’), 'Bass (How Low Can You Go)' alongside Simon Harris and their massive 2013 anthem, ‘Canto Del Pilon’ - that has racked up over 6,5 million plays on Youtube since its release. 

“It’s been an amazing 20 years for us”, state the pair. “Even this year we’re still performing at places we’ve not been before, taking our music to new audiences. We are looking forward to seeing what the next 20 years holds for us!”

Lux Experience has followed the well-trodden path towards rework superstardom, releasing material on Giant Cuts, Masterworks Music and Kolour Recordings before pitching up on Midnight Riot. Happily, the nostalgic Norwegian is once again in fine form, serving up a tasty, club-friendly cut-up of a lesser-known P-funk treat complete with boom-bap hip-hop vocal samples ("On Tha 1") before breathing new life into a boogie-era '80s soul gem in a Mullet Records style ("The Night"). Arguably best of all, though, is EP closer "City Vibes", which underpins clipped guitars, P-funk synth-bass and smooth vocal snippets with a rolling house beat.
