Mako returns to Dispatch Recordings for his first solo EP, consisting of four tracks steeped the classic roots of the 90’s sound we all know and love. 

Aptly entitled the “Back To The Source EP”, Mako explores vast atmospheric soundscapes, a careful selection of raw, authentic samples and an immaculate programming of amen breaks.

Stating the depth of his intention right from the start, “We Could Help Each Other” opens the EP with a wash of melody as Mako is joined on the controls by fellow collaborator Villem.  On “Planet Physical” we see a much darker direction, strictly for the heads; a gnarly, twisted drum workout that’s rugged in every sense of the word.

Up next “Do You Know What I’m Saying” builds up suspenseful intent, before leading into a shower of tightly chopped and intricate breaks.  “There’s Nothing We Can’t Be” completes this release as a digital only bonus track, offering a mellower groove by comparison to the rest of the EP. With this EP Mako finely encompasses a full circle of sound exploration at 170bpm upwards.

I've been listening to lots of JJ Cale lately to help me get through work etc, and it inspired me to make this. I spent almost 35 hours over the last few nights making and recording this, it deliberately sounds old school because I wanted it to sound this way :) Opinions? Emerging last year as Austria’s latest drum & bass talent to take the world by storm, Martin Mefjus as been on a serious roll with his music featuring heavily in the sets of the scenes biggest players. Never ones to rest on their laurels Critical were listening and snapped him up all for themselves as the latest to join the Critical roster alongside Enei, Foreign Concept, Xtrah and Emperor. Now as he readies his debut solo release on the label, Mefjus looks set to take things up a gear.

Next up label boss Kasra joins forces with the young Austrian on another absolute belting slice of technoid drum & bass that’s been getting Critical’s Fabric sessions in all sorts of bother of late. ‘Cypher’ is pure future with the synth stabs to match and bassline to smash, showing some strong sturdy roots for possibly a few more collaborations from these two. Wait and see...

The Oscillators - Choose Your Own Adventure - Medley

The Oscillators are a three-piece live Drum & Bass act from Adelaide. They are lead vocalist Nereeda, Producer Arne (Ah-nee) and Keyboardist/Vocalist Mark (Mo).

Off the back of a well-received 5-track experimental EP, September 2012 saw the release of the first single “Rock The Night” from their first full-length album ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’. The track was paired with a debut music video that has been featured on ABC music program “Rage”.

Early 2013 saw two more singles drop, “Deck Of Cards” and “I Remember”, which continue to receive daily rotation across the radio airwaves. More than just drum and bass, their influences span several genres, bringing a truly unique energy to their sound and live shows that always gets the dance floor firing!

With their debut album “Choose Your Own Adventure” available on both CD and digital formats, The Oscillators are now working on their second album set to be released in early 2015.
