We heard an intimate recording of the first verse of this song in mantra form/acapella and we were so moved that we added some verses and music to it. Its origins seem to have come from a ceremony and as the songs often are, channeled during the prayer.

B. O.K. was written the day I realized that the sexual abuse I once lived as a child, no longer was part of my present and that I could let it go. It was such an honor to work with Tiano from Santiago, Chile. Besides a few other artists, I would say he is one who most inspires me to be a better creator myself. Also super grateful for the magnitude of collaborations that came together for this song with my sister Paz Quintana, on of Mexico's best jarana players, Jeronimo Gonzalez from Los Sonex and Dr. Zupreeme from Banda Baston.

STOP THE MONEY PIPELINE FOR VIDEO

Inspired by and in collaboration with the work of Isabel Friend, my soul-sister and Earthkeepers Wisdom School visionary Carolyn Griffeth invited me to catch a song for a ritual to bless, enoble and restructure  Water.  The words of this ceremony are inspired by the work of groundbreaking Japanese water researcher Dr. Emoto, who discovered the words water likes best.   

"We thank you water.  
We love you water. 
We respect you water. 
You are Life!"

So I went for a hike to Kickapoo State Park and asked the waters there (a pond, post coal-mine) for a song. This simple mantra came as a response ~ a basic matrix to hold the embellishment of your harmony and the power of your prayers.  May our attention and our love support the restoration, vitality, & healing power of living Water.

The People’s Echo is a healing-centered song collective based on Coast Salish Lands (Seattle, WA). 

We catch and share songs as medicine for these times and tend to community through the practice of joining our voices in song. We gather monthly for BIPGM-centered songcatching circles, host seasonal song circles for our wider community, and support activists to bring songs to the streets.

We believe that singing together is a human birthright that has less to do with “sounding good” and more to do with settling into our bodies, calming our nervous systems, and being together in community. Anyone who joins us for song circles, actions, events and beyond is a part of The People’s Echo and we invite the broader community to join us in song. 

Mission: To heal ourselves and the world through the practice of community singing and to reclaim our voices as instruments for personal and collective liberation.

Vision: We envision a world of clean air, clean water, food sovereignty, and a liveable climate for all.
