“The People’s Key” has been entertaining Richmond audiences with their mix of original, classic, and American popular tunes since the 1990’s.  Named after a song by the 1960’s cult band The Central Park Sheiks, their influences range from 1930’s jazz and swing to Reggae and Soul.  In addition to their original tunes, a typical set might feature songs from Jimmy Rodgers, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, Loudon Wainwright III, Steve Earle, and The Beatles.

Although their original and cover songs cross many genres, the distinguishing feature throughout is their use of harmonies to give each song an original feel.  

The core band consists of Hank Selby - guitar and vocals; Robin Selby - harmonica and vocals; Margaret Redford - lead and harmony vocals; and Fred Plaisted - Bass and vocals.
