La Pénequet 12.21 on LYL Radio - Jonquera wants To DJ

Louis and Guillaume are the mischievous minds behind The Pilotwings. Formerly both Lyon-based (Louis has now upped sticks and moved to Athens), the duo's melange of synth-pop, Balearic and soft trance has formed the basis of releases for BFDM, their longstanding label affiliate and home of their first release, as well as spells at Macadam Mambo and Animals Dancing.

As they've grown, so too has their sound. It's still fresh and psychedelic as ever, but there's more focus on the use of instruments and a wider palatte of influences, plus they've brought a third member into the fold for their latest release, their second LP on BFDM - Les Charismatiques.

Their own solo projects are just as worth your attention too: under Eiger Drums Propaganda Louis makes tripped out ambient weirdo trance while Guillaume's output as Jonquera is a dub-wise downtempo affair. 

Following the release last year, we roped them in to doing a mix for us, a request they gladly accepted. Their 'Back to the rave machine' mix is a wild ride through trance, acid, psychedelia and house. Get stuck in.

Two years after the 𝐃𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐎𝐒 𝐋𝐏, Jonquera is back to Charlieu’s surrounding vales for his second album on 𝔹𝔸𝕄𝔹𝕆𝕆 𝕊ℍ𝕆𝕎𝕊. 

Through 𝐋𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐱 𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬, the French Musician delivers a loner-folk eclogue about the fantasized inner demons of a country dweller. Just like clay, audio recordings here are a malleable substance, slowly reworked over a year, following a sinuous production process where all mishaps are welcomed as breaches to step into. 
Far from the spaghetti western myth of the reckless bounty hunter, riding his faithful horse in the great outdoors to spill blood; this 14-track album is the grieving lament of a wistful cowboy, longing for a simple patch of peace where one’s free to cultivate the earth and noodle on the guitar.

Heldon’s cosmic space-rock, Badalamenti’s Twin-Peaksesque foggy jazz or Morricone’s glorious soundtracks, so many references to portray another fertile imprint by Jonquera, available from February 13, 2023 on a 12” vinyl. To get along with a limited-edition woven scarf.

La Penequet 10.23 on LYL Radio - Eiger's Tales Of A Superhero Movie On DMT

nacht and The Pilotwings (Louis & Guillaume) present a compilation of works created in the STELPLAATS venue in Leuven, early 2022.

In November 2021, right before the second lockdown, Guillaume and Louis were invited by the nacht crew in Leuven to play their first dj-set together since the start of the pandemic. 
At the time, the nacht crew had just received the first physical release on their brand new imprint, and the team was eager to get the record out into the world. For the second release, however, everything was possible. Before the show, somewhere between the obligatory nasal swab and the third drink, the idea of an unusual collaboration sprouted.

Since Louis recently moved to Athens and Guillaume lived in Lyon, the duo found less time and opportunities to work on their shared project. However, wouldn’t STELPLAATS be the ideal venue for a temporary studio in which the two of them could create music?
For all the frustration the new lockdown on clubs brought with it, one upside to it was that not that long after the birth of this idea, Louis and Guillaume found their way back to each-other and to Leuven. The duo found their workspace in the dark club that is STELPLAATS’ staple. For the occasion, the room was equipped with studio monitors, a sofa, and instruments lended by Leuven based musicians.

Leuven Works compiles five tracks that flowed out of the sessions in STELPLAATS and is a testament to the week that Louis and Guillaume had under the STELPLAATS roof. During their stay, the blood brothers got looked after with love by the nacht team, who provided homemade pizzas and a well-stocked fridge full of Duvels, allowing The Pilotwings to truly root into the Leuven soil and enrich the local landscape with their colourful presence.

This is the sonic universe of Eiger Drums Propaganda, where sound transforms into a boundless, surreal experience. In this vivid, psychedelic realm, krautrock, tribal rhythms, and dark experimental textures swirl and ascend, reimagining the Neo Trance genre.

Led by Louis Ebola, half of The Pilotwings, Eiger Drums Propaganda is an electronic project formed in collaboration with various musicians. Together, they created a powerful triptych of albums on the renowned Macadam Mambo label, blending krautrock, ritualistic tribal beats, and shadowy experimental sounds. This artistic journey inspired Louis to develop a solo live set, where he brings these albums to life through a fusion of electronic equipment, electric guitar, wind instruments, and a vast range of vocal experiments.
