My name is Jorge Cano but I go in hip-hop by "The Prototype". I was born in Mexico City and lived there until I was 8 years old, when me and my family moved to the city of St. Catharines in Canada in 1993. Ever since I was a kid my father & mother pushed me into the world of music, playing music from some of their favorite Spanish singers. Around the age of 12, I got into the world of Hip-Hop and fell in love with the art, buying CD after CD of nothing but hot beats and dope lyrics.

I started writing and making music at the age of 15, being influenced by both commercial and underground rap. Eventually I started spitting with some of the talent coming from my city and expended my horizons, coming up with a style that defined who I am. Eventually I got hit up by a magazine called "H.E.E.T." from Chicago which did an interview with me back in 2002. With a different state of mind and sound, I started getting recognized for who I was: a lyrical emcee who wasn't scared to be different. The mixtape game is what I was playing, starting with my debut "The Basement Vol. 1" which featured some of the talent in the Niagara region and kept dropping mixtapes as the years went by.

I've gotten radio airplay in a few radio stations including the "ALL UP IN THEM EARHOLES" hip-hop show on 103.7fm CFBU and 106.9fm CFYT Radio. I've also done performances at clubs, rocking the stages with other emcees looking to get their art out as well. My debut album "The Prototype LP" will show you what 10 years plus in the game has taught me as an emcee and in life. If you ever get the chance cop the album.
