As we begin the countdown to The Race 2015 we will be talking to some of the worlds top endurance athletes with a view to understanding their psyche, motivations and strategies. Our competitors will shape these conversations as we give them an opportunity to submit the questions we put to the experts. 

In the first of our Expert Series, Maghnus Collins from The Race talks with Gerry Duffy about exploring physical and mental limits, strategies for getting through the tough times and Gerry's key piece of advice for The Race 2015 competitors.

Who would take part in an event like The Race?

The Race is a 250 km unsupported endurance event across the rugged landscape of North West Donegal. To finish competitors have to complete 15km of kayaking, 166km of cycling, 5km of mountain running and 64km of road and trail running. It is aimed at providing the ultimate 24 hour test of endurance.
