Covered in Glory, a 12-track slab of raucous rock, harnesses the raw energy of Brooklyn five-piece The Rakehells'  live shows and giving lovers of indie music something to get excited about again.
Covered in Glory packs an immediate punch. The first track That Is That sets the tone with a gypsy-jazz riff and a nonchalant swagger. Second track Trixie is a fiery paean to blues rebel Trixie Smith, and Forgiveness ignites the dance floor with a reggae-inspired motif and a driving chorus. Heleven showcases the intricately interwoven guitar lines that have become the band’s hallmark and Why Now’s taut bounce is infectious. Roadrunner is an unapologetic riff rocker, Bound to Be gets the crowd jumping, Hide and Seek is a spiked cocktail, Psycho Dice is a twisted brawler, Sparks walks a tightrope and Glory is the album’s seething, muscular finale. 
While The Rakehells’ sound is all their own, it has been described as a cross between The Rolling Stones and Motörhead, with the eloquence of Jarvis Cocker (if Cocker were a buccaneer). The Rakehells’ sound is a result of their trans-Atlantic roots—singer James Roe and rhythm guitarist Howard Stock hail from the U.K., while lead guitarist Mike Devigne, bassist Johnny Lowe and drummer Patrick Paredes grew up stateside. The result reveals a much deeper side to The Rakehells’ sonic palette beyond the first listen, although fits equally well at the heart of the party.
