Our ninth release is a special one that’s close to our hearts — announcing the ‘So AM’ EP by Gallery B. Currently living and working on Larrakia land (Darwin), Emma Stevenson (aka Gallery B / @gallerybmaking) is a producer and DJ with a deep appreciation of music. As one of the founding members of TSBU, Emma has played a significant part in the label’s inception, and fortuitously returns to the label full-circle to release the ‘So AM’ EP.

Taking cues from 90s production and the tranquil surrounds of Emma’s home in the Northern Territory, these tracks represent a new direction for Gallery B; a step away from previous ambient excursions into tropical-tinged downtempo. So AM may be a new direction, yet one which feels at home alongside previous Gallery B works — maintaining the delicate layers and dreamlike textures synonymous with her sound.

𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝟮𝗕 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗼 (𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 @ 𝗜𝘇𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁)

There's no doubt Porto-based Brasilian Albin is a lover of drums. As a DJ he flirts with rhythm whether he's playing downtempo cuts, bass weight or more rave-inspired breaks and UKG. 

This passion is translated through his label too. Since 2018 he's been helming Yellow Island Records with the help of label family LA-based producer Etari and fellow Porto-based Brasilian Radino.

There's a distinct UK influence to the output, you'll hear breakbeat, garage, jungle, IDM and braindance sounds coming from producers like Kessler, Boulderhead, XTMR and more, plus there's plenty of compilations to sink your teeth into.

The UK connection is also kept alive through the label's residency on South East London's Balamii Radio which sees him invite label mates and like-minded DJs to take over the controls each month.

Just like Albin asserts, his mix for us is fluid and energetic - and there's absolutely no messing about, he gets straight into it from the jump. The drums take centre stage throughout, flipping between rolling and skippy patterns that sit over dub-wise atmospheres and tittering percussion - whether you're on your morning run or making a beeline for the dance floor, this will keep those energy levels up.

Sergio Outeiriño (@mounderg) is a dj from Ourense, Galicia (north of Spain) better known as Mou. He's been spinning records for over a decade in serious parties around the country. He launched his own label in 2018  Must Be On Wax (@mbowtrax) with releases from great artists from his community.

This mix is absolute madness, dub, house, breaks, all kinds of trancy melodies, acid rythms and crazy percussions for over 1h. Enjoy!

ALIEN D aka Daniel Creahan is a staple in the NYC underground. He co-runs SWEAT EQUITY and is one half of DEKALB WORKS. For this EP, he’s cooked up 4 heady dance floor churners that draw influence from many points along the UK hardcore continuum and US tech-tonic landscape. These cuts are applicable and psychedelically functional for all times of the night. Early support and play by CCL, AceMo, Miley Serious, 2Lanes, Wngdu, Devoye, Ru, Masha, Mazewski, and Furtive.

“Dream Burner'' opens up with a tantalizing, syncopated kick, a rim-shot rhythm, and a brain-scratching zoom…it starts out tiptoeing around the 4/4 and then fully gives the four only to end back where the track started…presenting you with the Beat in between the downs and ups. “Spicy Action” is the perfect mix of chill and party…dubbed-out breaks and synth stabs laced over traveling bass drum patterns. No seatbelts in this cruiser, so hang tight!

Flip to the B side. “Party Glitters” is a sunrise outdoor rave anthem. Blissed out techno breaks for the long-haulers. At 8 minutes and some change, this is one you’ll want to let work its own magic…it’s a goer! “Sunrise Deli” ends the EP with tangible optimism, the power of the kinship found at a solid rave. Lush synths ease in more brain-tingling techno percussion and bring the EP to a bright close.
