Now, NIKS is a name that you might already be familiar with, and, quite frankly, if you aren't, we're not really sure where you've been over the last year (well, hopefully your house)...

The South-East London-based DJ and radio host is one of the minds behind Black Bandcamp, a platform founded last year as a space to showcase, promote and support Black artists across the world. What began as a crowd-sourced spreadsheet quickly snowballed into a unified website and a global initiative which is continuing to grow and develop as we type.

But beyond NIKS' incredible work behind the scenes, she's also been causing quite the stir behind the decks too. Inspired by deeper, rhythmic strains of electronic music; sounds with percussive and melodic hooks, her sets and mixes —which have most recently come via Discwoman and Lobster Theremin— explore sounds that transcend the body and the mind, moving beyond thoughts and feelings. 

On top of cooking up lots of new, exciting plans for Black Bandcamp, which will be shared very soon, there's plenty coming up in the world of NIKS too, starting right now with her 'Ransom Note' mix... Get your loose clothing at the ready — this is one for the dance.

彡 Sarah Farina Mix for Syntop | 25th Edition

Hailing from Rotterdam, Black Cadmium is the moniker of DJs, producers and radio hosts Joginda Macnack and Jermaine Richards.

Drawing influence from acid, techno and electro, and the London to Detroit connection, the pair have already built a solid discography over the last year or two, finding homes on the likes of Ovum Recordings, Vault Wax and more recently Carista's United Identities and Violet's Naïve imprint.

For their 'Shine A Light On' mix they share music from their favourite artists and labels, including Nous'Klaer, Omnidisc, Jaye Sound and Interplanetary Criminal, as well as a handul of the labels they've previously released music on. A deep, cosmic ride through squelchy 303s, cavernous electro and euphoric techno, it's clear that Black Cadmium have arrived and we'll be seeing much more of them in the future...

Glasgow-based DJ isora is in charge of this week’s Rhythmic Culture podcast. isora did study violin for 10 years at the Conservatory of Music in Italy and this led her to a vision of life that cannot be considered the same without music. Inspired by electronic and techno music after moving to Glasgow, her goal is to let people not just listening but also feeling and living her mixes as a proper experience.

Her mix is a percussive madness that starts off with an organic feel, but slowly is bleeding in thumping basses that will last to the end of the set leaving you paranoid, yet excited for what is coming next.
