New episode... 026. This CD is from Tyrant aka Craig Richards, Lee Burridge (& occasionally Sasha). The disc was released in the year 2002 on via Fabric and holds special memories for the 40 of us on the bus heading down to The Bomb in Nottingham each month, a tiny basement club with white walls, low ceilings and just a red and blue strobe light (if I remember correctly). At the time... this party was without doubt the one to be at in the country and arguably the world. The trio created a dubby, sexy sound which went onto create some of the most respected underground dj careers in the world. Awesome music and great times indeed.

Coming from an art school background (something that continuously keeps informing his work as a musician), he is one of the most analytical and constructive artists on the scene, well aware of his own process, continuously examining it as he goes further.

Come rain come shine, for the last (almost) 30 years you'll find Domenic Cappello propping up the booth at Sub Club. He's pretty much part of the furniture: since '94, alongside fellow resident James Harrigan - better known together as Harri & Dom - he's been a permanent fixture at the Glasgow-based clubbing institution. 

His solo sets are something to marvel at too. His ability to read a crowd is second to none, it doesn't matter whether he's playing slo mo electro, an acid banger or a shimmering house cut, he'll have the room hanging on his every word - or note, should we say.

When it comes to Subby, Dom knows the place inside out now; he knows the faces that come week-in-week-out, how to slowly build the energy and the different directions he can take the night in.

We bring our 'Line Out' series back out of retirement for this very special mix: an extended warm up set recorded live from Sub Club back in April. We knew when we saw the name of the mix file - 'Domenic Cappello Has a Steak Bake with a Wee Bit of Heat In It, He's Going to Warm It Up at Subculture' - we were in for something downright tasty, and we weren't wrong... Over the course of three hours, listen to a real master at work.

Andrew Weatherall Exclusive Picnic Oz Tour 2014 DJ Mix

As @sleepd, childhood friends Maryos Syawish and Corey Kikos have greatly helped shape Melbourne's underground scene over the last decade. Between them, they have Iraqi and Maltese heritage and put out music on the likes of Incienso, Play On and Cocktail d'Amore Music as well as their own blog/party/label Butter Sessions. Like their expressive live show, it explores "the rave unconscious" so think everything from dreamy pads to driving rhythms, gritty electro to cosmic techno. 

This week's podcast is a superb showcase of their style: a mix that is constantly on the move, building momentum as rhythms go from elastic and bouncy to more driving and sleek. Percussion is perfectly sprinkled in to give extra texture, while nebulous synths add the colour as the pressure builds and builds. This is physical, psychedelic, emotional, trance-inducing electronic music that follows the familiar arc of a well-executed mix but in all new and unfamiliar ways.
