About this CD:
This episode features a cd which further cemented my love of all things Groove Aramada, especially their earlier work. The unforgettable intro of 'Fly Me To The Moon' sets up a mix which flows between house, soul, disco and hip hop with ease. It was another education into all things 'eclectic' although that word does get on my tits some what. It's just 'playing whatever great music you feel like' isn't it.

Special shout out the the inclusion of Mr. Fingers - Can You Feel It, which I'm sure holds a special place in everyones heart and sets up the ending for another brilliant CD. (Not forgetting a nice bed time story ending from Patrick Moore). So turn it up, and enjoy the mix!

Next in the compiler hotseat for seminal mix series ‘Back to Mine’ is the legendary DJ and producer Fatboy Slim. Having sold over 10 million records and embarked on a number of sold out arena tours, the esteemed record collector and all round great selector delves deep into his weighty collection at his home to create a heady journey of funk and soul. The collection opens with Dave Barker & Ansel Collins ‘Monkey Spanner’ – a reggae single released in 1971 from the Kingston based duo working for the infamous producer Lee “Scratch” Perry.
There are a few rare finds, Donal Leace ‘Today Won’t Come Again’, Wind ‘Grooving With Mr. Bloe’ and Googie Rene Combo ‘Smokey Joe’s La La’. And the most recognisable for many no doubt is Betty Chung’s 1968 classic ‘Bang Bang’ thanks to the vocals of the Nancy Sinatra cover being sampled in the Audio Bullys rework in 2005.

Aeroplane - 500th Essential Mix (Live from Circus Liverpool)

Not Safe For Wax slides into it's first release with head honcho Miagma's Her Palms EP, which delivers four cuts of emotive, warehouse ready tunes, thawed out and prepped for these winter months!

The title track sets us off, combining rattling hats, blurry pads and one tough cookie of a kick to make a banger Beato would be proud of. On remix duties is everyone's favorite UK based Spaniard Pépe, bringing us back to those early days of Ibiza with his soaring balearic vibes. 

The B side flips the script on genres entirely, rumbling through with Untitled #3, a breakbeat-to-broken foot of a floor stomper. Finishing out our journey is Anguish Lagoon; a proper tribute to junglists and jungles alike!

We caught up with him to talk as he delivers a gorgeous hour of music

About the CD:
005 of the 'Classic Mix CD' collection brings a much slower affair. From the superb 'Back To Mine' CD series. The first I purchased was actually Danny Tenaglia's disc, which I bought out of curiosity being a fan of his house DJ sets. That disc almost made it here, but it was the Groove Armada release which really got hammered on my old Sony stereo. No other disc reminds me of lazy summer sundays more than this. And it was really the first musical selection that steered me towards collecting and playing a mix of music all together. Going from A Tribe Called Quest, into Barry White's incredible "Playing Your Game Baby" then house and other genre's coming in.... really resonated with me and elevated the way I put music together. Both listening to and playing out. A truly seminal release.
