Axis Alpha’s story starts at one of the Polygon’s event nights. Based on the immersive experience there he decided to start djing and mixing techno. He used to play dub techno, minimal, house and even a little bit of trance but it was the hypnotic techno which slowly began to take precedence over others in his work. In 2022, he joined Weltraum, Prague-based collective of friends enjoying deep, high-intensity techno music who love to play it together

Who'd have thought the quiet market town of Hitchin, on the outskirts of London, would be home to a passionate purveyor of riveting techno... That's Rob Kirkaldy, or Fossil Archive and R.M.K as he's known to many. 

Like we said, techno is his bread and butter, having first been inspired by its Detroit roots, but rest assured he's exploring all facets of the genre which brings a distinctive energy to his output. It's the many years he's spent honing his craft that have seen to that, not only through his releases but his DJ and live sets too.

Having shared releases for the likes of NECHTO, Obscure, Fachwerk and ARTS over the years, in 2015 he decided to step into the label world too with his eponymous Fossil Archive imprint, which is powered by the idea of not compromising on his sound. It's been a home for his own productions first and foremost but also welcomes other artists for collaborations and remixes, including the likes of Trevino, Stephen Brown and Kiara Scuro's ZaaZaa.

For his 'Ransom Note' mix she shares the recording of a special live show performed under his R.M.K moniker at De Helling in Utrecht last year. It's techno in its purest form - stripped back, room shaking, thunderous - but full of groove and soul. Let him help you shake off those residual cob webs...

Rebecca Goldberg is a producer, live performer, DJ and graphic designer from Detroit. Since her debut EP release, 313 Acid Queen, she has been affiliated with the multidisciplinary arts collective, Detroit Underground. Rebecca is a seasoned radio DJ having mixed for FM and internet-radio shows hosted across the globe.

Goldberg has self-released music and multimedia projects ranging from Detroit techno to experimental/avant-garde electronic music. She tours internationally as a DJ and live performer and has been featured at notable events from Movement Electronic Music Festival to Tresor in Berlin. Unconfined by genre, Rebecca has written original scores for classic films, “Le Voyage Dans La Lune” and “Gojira,” which included live performances at Silencio, David Lynch’s members-only club in Paris, and Armageddon Beachparty in Detroit.

In 2022 the New BBC Radiophonic Workshop released a selection of field recordings she took throughout her native Michigan for their Travel Agency project. For her live performance she focuses on sound design and the unpredictable capabilities of working with electronic instruments. In early 2023 she produced a live show called Upphljómun to showcase live performances from herself and Icelandic electronic artists during the Reykjavik Winter Lights Festival. Her most recent EP on Detroit Underground, TROIS CENT TROIS, was featured on Bandcamp’s “New and Notable” releases and is available to order worldwide. Two years ago I played a set in the small garden hut of ://about blank, which was a very unique situation for me. Since the location was super tiny and intimate and in general a more "fun" context, I also wanted to play different than I usually do. I was blessed with some good feedback on this set, so I decided to upload it. It’s a wild journey through oldschool trance, house, dub techno, acid, breakbeat and several other electronic stuff. Hope you’ll have as much fun listening, as I had playing.

Adrenaline-spiked video games have soundtracked the youth of millions global-wide for decades. Immersive worlds elevated by pulsing scores have long gripped imaginations, and Chicago Techno producer, DJ and video game developer Zvrra is an artist whose dynamic craft can be credited to the console. It was Rockstar’s street racing game Midnight Club II that kick-started Zvrra’s love of Techno’s sundry rhythms as the soundtrack featured a strong supply of cuts from esteemed producers.

Galvanized by her gameplay, she quickly began experimenting with her own sound. That was nearly two decades ago and Zvrra’s output has explored a multitude of genres and styles ranging from Techno and House, to Hip Hop, dark Ambient, Tribal and Industrial, with her being a deft hand in blending styles and crafting concept albums.

Since 2020, Zvrra has been breaking through the ranks and rising to prominence. Records such as her self-released Flow State Techno EP bagged her high praise in all the right corners with Luke Slater, Umfang, Inigo Kennedy, Dustin Zahn and Ben Sims being among those to support her works. British techno linchpin Shifted is another who took notice, saving her a sought-after slot on his imprint Avian for her debut LP Bizzaroland. Released at the end of 2021, the absorbing, tension-driving nine-tracker spans ambient, techno and noise, and firmly secured Zvrra’s reputation as an artist in a world of her own in concocting distinct, intricate soundscapes. Beyond self-releases and record label dispatches, her music features on HBO Max’s South Side series as well as a TV commercial for the streaming giant.

As for DJing, Zvrra’s shrewd selections have largely been heard across the airwaves with regular guest slots on Rinse FM and The Lot, as well as being tapped by Dekmantel for its crowd-pulling podcast series. And as her productions continue to thud across dancefloors, she’s eager to clock in behind the booths of hallowed clubs and festivals worldwide.

While music production has taken precedence over video game development, in the near future fans of her sonic ammo will be able to explore her three-dimensional creations as she’s developing video games with plans to release them on Steam, Xbox and other major platforms.

The back2back mix was recorded live at Fossil Archive Presents at The Glove that Fits in London. This is organised once a month on a Sunday evening by Roberto R.M.K, and it was a truly special one. 

Even though they had never played together previously, the blend of styles felt like they’d been doing it for years. It was a truly magical experience for everyone involved, which was aided by the lack of air conditioning which had broken the day before. The heat and music were very intense which resulted in everyone sweating like crazy! Hopefully this will be the first of many b2b’s they play.

EPM.189 comes from Fossil Archive boss, R.M.K. Hailing from London, R.M.K is an exciting new project by Fossil Archive label head Roberto. It represents a faster and more intense take on his unique brand of Techno. He utilises his knowledge and past experiences, which include regularly playing at Berghain and Tresor in Berlin, as well as fabric in London, to develop his individual sound. R.M.K has distilled that experience into this 2-hr set, recorded directly from his residency at The Glove That Fits, London for the EPM series. Featuring Axel Karakasis, NØRBAK, Glaskin, Juri Heidemann, Volster, James Ruskin, Stephen Brown, Franco Rossi plus a brace of unreleased tracks from Vinicius Honorio & R.M.K himself we get a flawless mix of tough yet hypnotic swinging grooves.

During his 20+ year career in music, Roberto has formed friendships and worked in partnership with other respected artists such as Trevino (Marcus In-talex), Jamie Anderson, Robert Owens, Goldie and Nastia. Although the focus is always on the very heart of the most raucous of raves, R.M.K never shies away from groove and funk. This is conveyed in a Live Show that utilises classic hardware from the golden age of UK Rave and now here on this new mix for the EPM series.

R.M.K is the new project from London-based artist Roberto, known for his work as head of Fossil Archive. This alias sees him explore a faster, more intense take on his signature techno sound—drawing on two decades of experience and past appearances at clubs like Berghain, Tresor, and fabric.

Over the years, he’s collaborated with artists including Trevino (Marcus Intalex), Jamie Anderson, Robert Owens, Goldie, and Nastia. While rooted in the energy of peak-time rave, R.M.K’s sound keeps groove and funk at its core, brought to life in a hardware-driven live show inspired by the golden era of UK rave.

This set was recorded live at The Glove That Fits in London, where he holds a monthly Fossil Archive Presents residency. It features tracks from a forthcoming album produced with Jamie Anderson, marking ten years of the label.

Roberto (real name: Rob Kirkaldy) is a London based Techno producer, DJ and Remixer. Considered to be one of the most exciting new UK Techno artists in recent years, he combines influences from Detroit and Amsterdam to create his own sound unique to the UK.

As a DJ, he brings a special energy to the dance floor that is the product of many years of dedication to the craft. Never one to let an audience get bored, his sets explore many angles of techno, which has seen him play at some of the most well respected clubs around the world, including fabric in London and both Tresor and Berghain in Berlin. His DJ skills have also made him a popular choice for podcasters, having been called upon to deliver mixes for esteemed shows like the CLR Podcast, Slam Radio and Electric Deluxe.

With an already impressive discography, Roberto has built his production credits with EPs on the likes of Rekids, Fachwerk, ARTS, Solar Phenomena and Obscura, as well as a host of remixes for artists like Jamie Anderson, Roberto Clementi, DJ Rolando and Shinedoe. His own tracks have been remixed by artists such as Steve Rachmad (Sterac), Mike Dehnert, Trevino and Peverelist.

At the beginning of 2015, Roberto launched his own Fossil Archive label. Predominantly a vinyl label (though releases are also available digitally), the ethos of the imprint is that it must not compromise on the sound.

As Roberto said in a recent interview with Data Transmission: “I love the fact that you can hold a piece of music in your hands. They are art pieces in their own right. Music is the product of many years of development; much like a fossil that can be buried deep underground for millions of years, until it is discovered. I wanted to ensure the music is of the highest quality, which means not rushing things.”
