Monster, a seasoned DJ from Poznań, Poland, is making waves in Europe with her diverse music style, including trance, techno, and more. Starting her career in Poznań's anarchist squat, she's now part of Oramics, promoting diversity in electronic music. Her accomplishments include winning a DJ contest by Catz 'n Dogz, performing at major festivals, and recording mixes for Resident Advisor, DJ Mag, Mixmag and more. She's played at renowned venues and remains a resident at Projekt LAB, while also hosting DJ workshops at feminist events. This mix was recorded @ Fiber Festival Garage Noord, Amsterdam.

With over a decade of experience under her belt Monster is now rightfully taking the place among Europe's best DJ. Showcasing her omnivorous taste for euphoric and fun music, Monster can be heard playing old school trance, techno, house, acid, breaks and everything in between, usually championing producers from her local Polish scene. 

Her career started in the late 00’s at Rozbrat, an anarchist squat and social centre in Poznań, Poland. That's where she started throwing Squat The Electricity nights, working tightly with the local scene, popularising electronic music among activists and activism among electronic music fans. Today, she's a member of Oramics, a Polish platform supporting women, non-binary and queer people in electronic music. Their actions came to worldwide attention thanks to the Total Solidarity compilation.  

In 2018, she won a DJ contest held by Catz 'n Dogz and performed at their Wooded City Festival in Szczecin. Later that year, she delivered a mix for Violet's Naive label that was picked up by Pitchfork as one of their mixes of the month to the delight of Philip Sherburne: “this 99-minute set of acid, breakbeats, cascading piano house, electro, and even very early trance is cause to wonder why we haven’t heard of her before.” A recording of her fierce closing party set at Unsound 2019 was featured in Resident Advisor's mix of the day series as well as in Pitchfork’s best mixes of January 2020. She was immediately asked to record a proper RA mix, the first Polish woman to do so since Magda. Since then she has recorded mixes for Boiler Room, Groove.de, Festimi, Crack Magazine, The Ransom Note and Mixmag, among others. 

Many bookings followed, solo and b2b e.g. with Solid Blake, Objekt and Shjva; from Berghain, Tresor (Berlin), Fold (London), Ankali (Prague), Post Club (Vilnus), Macadam (Nantes), and The White Hotel (Manchester) to local hotspots such as CEL & P23 (Katowice),  Jasna 1 (Warsaw), Prozak 2.0 (Kraków) and Crackhouse (Gdańsk). She also plays festivals, including Poland's Audioriver and Wisłoujście, Germany's WHOLE or FLAAM in Slovakia. She's still a resident of Projekt LAB in Poznań, but when not DJ-ing, you can catch her running workshops for DJs at feminist events such as International Women’s Day fundraisers, as well as ones hosted by Oramics, and Granko.

Sling & Samo are the exiting duo behind the Born Free record label which resides in Stockholm. Over the last few years the pair have been releasing a vast array of weird, wonderful, oddball music: some built for the dancefloor and some certainly not. The pair are colourful characters who don't take themselves or what they do too seriously. Samo is also well known in his own right as a producer and dj having released music for the likes of LIES, The Trilogy Tapes and Public Possession but together with Sling the pair enter a new realm of musical exploration. We asked them to record a mix for us.

Expect the unexpected. That's the philosophy Rotterdam-based DJ mad miran promotes in her DJ sets. A regular on the Dutch capital's mainstay Red Light Radio and a face behind the counter at the infamous Clone record shop, Miran has fast become one of the country's most promising DJs. 

Although she only played her first DJ set in a club a couple of years ago, she's already landed a residency at Trouw successor De School and become part of the Strange Sounds From Beyond family, seeing her name spread like wildfire and lead to a string of gigs across Europe.

We invited her to dive into her record bag for us and the result is 80 minutes of leftfield electro, raw breaks and introspective electronica. Enter into the crazy world of mad miran...

mad miran: The 'Wednesday Alternative' Mix

Amsterdam has been graced with a fearsome array of fabulous selectors and disc jockeys in recent times, the city is abuzz with experimental music and talent. 

Orpheu The Wizard has been a pivotal figure in the development of the scene, crucially helping to nurture new faces through his key role as a co founder of Redlight radio - a distinctive platform which has acted as a gateway and an open door to a new wave of music, producers and dj's. 

His own background is well versed, he's earnt his stripes and played the long game building a respectable array of musical knowledge and selective talent which he uses to entice and delight crowds across Europe and beyond. Eclectic, far reaching and multi purpose - his sets often run wild across a sprawling spectrum of sound. 

This year he will play at Love International festival, an appearance which should not be missed.

Orpheu The Wizard: The Ransom Note Mix

Step back, this is a big one. 

Across the past couple of decades there have been very few who can attest as much influence as that of Joakim, a singular producer who has been charted as an influential figure by many of the leading producers and disc jockeys in the present.

The French outsider has amassed a notorious reputation for his eclectic style as a disc jockey and producer having released music on the likes of Versatile, Kitsuné Music, Life And Death, Crosstown Rebels and beyond. As the founder behind Tigersushi Records and Crowdspacer he has been responsible for leading a new generation of talent into the dance and has played a key role in the future development of dance and electronic music. 

As an individual his own take on music is wide and vast, not one to shy away from the alternative or experimental he has done well to channel a sprawling array of style, genre and sound across his own lengthy career and in all honesty Joakim continues to surprise and intrigue with delight. 

A Dj's dj, he is a firm favourite and we welcome him as part of the series.

[BIO EN:]
ISNT - artist associated with the Polish club scene since 2005. She’s is the originator and co-founder of Oramics,a platform to support women, non-binary and queer people in the electronic music scene. She is also the founder of the Behind The Stage collective, focusing on the experimental and industrial side of techno music, which also became a label last year.

The music she creates is a mixture of techno, deconstructed IDM and broken sounds. In recent season she played in such clubs as Tresor, about:blank, Suicide Circus and Dalston Superstore (London). She appeared with her live performances at the Tauron Nowa Muzyka, Instytut and Avant Art Festival

Her music productions has been released on Unknown Timeline (PL) [12 "], Vanity Pill (UK), Behind The Stage (PL), Pointless Geometry (PL), Oramics (PL) Kashev Tapes (CH), OBSKUR MUSIC (CA). Her new solo album will be released on vinyl at Metamorph (NY) in 2020.

ISNT is one of the minds behind the Polish collective Oramics, a platform which supports women, non-binary and queer people in the Eastern European electronic music scene. 

Alongside fellow DJs Monster, Avtomat, dogheadsurigeri, Olivia and Mala Herba, she has been behind initiatives to help push these voices within the local scene and beyond, as well as using Oramics as a space to support important causes including Poland's LGBTQIA+ organisations and the Kurdish resistance in Rojava, through wonderfully curated compilations. 

Also moving in the world of production, she debuted in 2018 with a cassette release for UK-based label Vanity Pills, introducing us to her knack for working with abstract textures and sparse atmospheres. 

With her first album set for release this year, we invited her to take control of this week's Wednesday Alternative mix which gives us a window into what a force she is behind the decks...

Facets comes to Brooklyn by way of Belgrade and London, with a passion for all things leftfield, techno, acid, electro, italo, balearic and beyond.

He has been part of glitterballnyc.com since its inception, a website showcasing electronic music in NYC. Founder of Samo Records and the club night associated with the label called Samo Nights. 

Samo Records, a New York-based label exploring the darker, moodier side of electronic music. Facets hosts a radio show at The Lot Radio which has included artists that were hosted at the label related parties and/or previous releases. 

Over the years Facets has been releasing edits on his personal channel and other outlets such as Calypso's 12" edits Correcciones series, whypeopledance's MATERIA, 44.100hz Social Club and Deep House Amsterdam.

Since 2009 Chicago-based musician Natalia has been moonlighting as TALsounds; the guise for her experiments with ambient, electro-acoustic and drone. 

Matching analog synthesizer loops with her own wistful, drifting vocals and various effects and pedals, she creates compositions that are equal parts hypnotic and meditative. Following a series of tape releases on Hasau Mountain and Moog's physical label, she delivered her first long player Love Sick on NYC-based Ba Da Bing Records which saw her productions veer into more fully formed songs than the improvised approach she'd previously practised. 

When she's not working on her own compositions, day-to-day TALsounds works as a music teacher and vocal chair at The Chicago High School for the Arts, passing down her skills and knowledge to aspiring students.
