"I struggle to put my constantly racing, messy thoughts into adequate words. I think this is in part why I’m drawn to overstimulating, unpredictable or “broken” music. 

When I played this mix live it was the first proper opportunity I was given to do a mix where I was never worried about whether people were dancing, and instead I could focus on sharing music that moved me or fascinated me in some way. 

Much like the artwork, I wanted to play around with shattered crystalline, processed textures, and allow the mix to morph and expand sonically at whim to mirror its visual counterpart. Swerving from tightly programmed algorithmic sequences to euphoric, nostalgic samples, this mix has a lot of reverb, re-pitching and emotional, glitchy stutters that I love so much!  

I hope when absorbing this piece that the listener lets the hyper-digital swells wash over them, like bathing in an endless virtual lake under formidable 3D-rendered mountains."

Off Duty w/ Gillielove feat. DJ Ailbait - 03.12.22

Jabes is a South London producer and DJ making moves following independent releases on Klunk and a recent collaboration with UK underground Bass come Techno stalwart Happa.

His sound draws upon a lineage of experimental music rooted in UK bass culture, built upon the influences of big sound systems, small dark smoky rooms and hooded nights spent lurking outside pubs on street corners.

His music is atmospheric and dense, leading to recent support from Batu who has just released his new EP on longstanding label and club night Timedance.  For fans of the label, this release comes with a certain degree of expectation in respect of sound design and tone – it doesn’t fail to disappoint.

Jabes looks set to have a promising future and we fully expect to see him banging down clubs and festivals this coming year and if this mix is anything to go by then we suggest ear plugs as standard.

Following a passion for the empowering perreo that started in the 00s at her teenage parties in Galicia, Spanish MC and DJ Clara! blends revolt, sex and humor on reggaeton/rap mutant rhythms with a punk spirit and a feminist foundation. For this infectious and twisted take on the gender she joins forces with eclectic producers including Pearson Sound, Low Jack and Maoupa Mazzocchetti. 

In this new installment of the Rhythmic Culture Podcast, Clara! touches upon everything coming out of the Latinx electronic music scene, that is just as vibrant as it is exciting.

Nina Mix 010 comes from two of our favorite CDMX artists Nico and Turning Torso, who were both featured in our Mexico City Hub back in June. Turning Torso is a mainstay in the city’s experimental electronic underground, while Nico is a DJ and producer who runs the stellar Akita Club label and has tracks out on NAAFI, Timedance, and L.I.E.S. 

This hour-long mix finds these artists skillfully weaving hypnotic textures and ethereal grooves with effortless finesse. The recording pulls from the contemporary underground ambient and club cannons and features tracks from CDMX artists like EAMS, Nihilnimal, and Turning Torso himself—his track “Full Spectrum" is now available on Nina.
