Running a record label is no simple feat, it requires dedication, investment and commitment. Many have tried and failed whilst others simply dream of the notion. 

Multiplex is a label which has been in operation for twenty five years, a remarkable achievement for what began as a passion project in Denmark all those years ago. Founded in 1995 the label went on a hiatus of sorts and was then reborn in 2017 following an absence, it has been responsible for the release of music by the likes of Orlando Voorn, Morgan Geist and John Tejada. 

More recently the label has released music by Cai Bojsen-Møller, Wilma, Ultra and Luca Lozano.

An imprint reborn yet still very much clinging on to the underground sensibilities which launched and birthed the label in its own right. It is a true testament to the commitment and perseverance of Kong and Daniel Karrill.

Local selector Afrodisiac aka Gabby Jarell treats us to an hour and half of bangers in the latest melt mix. This one is high energy and inspired by what Gabby would would like to hear if she could teleport to a Friday night at a doof. Made to make you move, enjoy as Gabby takes us on a journey of sounds ranging from deep house, techno and percussive grooves to thumping bass and hint of eurodance.

AYLI Ground Level shines a light on artists that create the fabric of our community: City by city, state by state, country by country. Washington, D.C.’s Jacq Jill AKA Lauren Wright's contribution to their local community have ramped up in recent years, with regular gigs alongside international heavy hitters and the launch of the “Hothouse" warehouse series with Shyboi. Those dates have been paired with releases on a who’s who’s of podcasts and an appearance representing D.C on Boiler Room. That energy has lead to headliner appearances at the leading queer underground parties in North America. Jacq Jill’s best known for bringing that same energy to the party.  Their energy on the decks is captivating. Their drive is to build community through the creation safe spaces. It’s impossible not to be pulled in. We’re excited to shine a light on Jacq Jill.  Take a moment to listen to the mix, read the interview and send Lauren a few bucks or more. For anyone who's caught a Tony Neptune set, either online or offline, you'll know the Leeds DJ, producer and Dimensions DJ Directory member doesn't do things in half measures. 

As both Tony and his other alias Yuri - a tip of the hat to Yuri Gagarin, the first human to journey into outer space - he's no stranger to 6-hour long mixes, sometimes immortalised in his lengthy back-to-backs with fellow Leeds DJ Mark 'Turbo' Turner. 

Last month he shared his first productions with the world; a debut EP titled Reflections on a Daring Escape that moves through emotive electro and further serves as a vehicle for Neptune to tell a story for the senses, by combining his own visual paintings with the music. 

In typical fashion for his Shine A Light On mix he delivers a live recording from his three hour set at Gut Level, a party in Sheffield, just before lockdown commenced. A journey through everything from oddball wave to slow industrial, EBM, new wave and electro, the mix picks up the pace continuing to build until its climax...
