Lukas Poellauer - Departure [Fortunea]

Lukas Poellauer comes back on fortunea with an ambitious 5 track ep. Mixing up house music with the use of traditional instruments and vocals by Spitting Ibex singer Aunty on some of the tracks.
It starts off with ‚Going Down’. An impressive introduction with reminiscences to early garage house records. ‚Falling Back’ folllows up on A2. A tight bass is companied with piano-cues, glittery strings
and a mysterious saxy breakdown, that gives the listener a sort of a cosmic film-noire vibe.
The melancholy continues with the next piece. ‚Departure’, the title-track of this record is placed on the B-side. A trumpet and a vibraphone are the main elements in this laid back, jazzy deep house
tune. It certainly has the blues in it.
While Aunty was only present on the first track for a couple of lines, her voice is placed now more on the foreground with her party song ‚It’s All Good’ on B2.
The record closes with a danceable rework of ‚Departure’ Tieffrequent label head Siggatunez is responsible for this version.

HSM PREMIERE | Lukas Poellauer - Departure [Fortunea]

Co-pilot is the new solo project by MajaKovich's ex drummer, Giovanni "Giangi" Natalini. After his first work (DIY EP) released on
Belgian Wémè Records, he landed at Simona Faraone's label, New Interplanetary Melodies, which for this occasion released its
first tape: Botanical Illustration Takes Patience and Skill.
This limited edition concept Ep is composed of 3 tracks entirely produced and played by Giangi and united by an ecological message
supporting the gentle and ancient botanical art (each tape comes out with a jute bag containing seeds to plant!). The title track (A1)
it's an 8 minute suite which perfectly combines powerful live drum breaks with vocal samples and synths able to carry the listener
until the top of unexplored exotic mountains.
The B side opens with Himawari (B1) an ecstatic track sounds like a desert session on Fuji mountain for a pure musical mysticism
result. On the end Mother Love Nature (B2) leads us to a more familiar territory related to the brand new experimental British trip
hop.
Botanical Illustration Takes Patience and Skill is a compact and solid work that highlights not only Giovanni Natalini’ technical drum skills but also an on point producer able to combine sound research between organic and electronic music.

There’s a few returning folk from previous Paper Disco outings with Danny Russell & Ronald Christoph dropping another chopped up disco funk bomb on ‘Future’s Gonna Get You’.
Brian SNR is back with us and a wicked slo-mo chuggy n dubby offering of ‘Hot Shot’ whilst JB Dizzy breaks out the arpeggiators to devastating effect on ‘Freak Street’ and Gaël De L’lvresse in duo with Sophie De L’lvresse (now just going by De L’lvresse) presents a wicked bass driven infectious romp with ‘Field River’.

Elsewhere there are offerings from long standing friends & members of the Paper family with Joe Morris making a long awaited return on a great piece of late night smoke & lasers style shenanigans on ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ plus there’s Kooky & Damoon dropping more slick disco sounds, From Beyond with another cosmic sounding slice of brilliance and Pico going all trippy with his offering.

Oh and from newcomers we have some jazz-esque edit vibes from Secret Soul Society, a classic gets cut up & rearranged by Jahn Solo whilst there’s an incredible but of 80’s soul/post disco sounds from Paper Street Soul.

The lighthouse stood proudly in the middle of the desert, its bright beacon scanning the dunes like an all-seeing eye. As the warning lights reflected across the sand, each grain sparkled under its beam before melting away to reveal huge chasms of water. Was this a mirage or just a figment of their imagination?

Following the textural electronica of Da Iguana in December, Russian collective, event series and label Serenades are stepping into 2021 with their first split EP, which brings together Malka Tuti alumni LINJA and Beats In Space producer Anatolian Weapons. Complimenting each other beautifully, the two sides bring a mix of rumbling basslines, frantic percussion and deep, low slung rhythms to send you into a dizzying trance.
