Matthew Herbert shares the latest single Hypnotised to be taken from the new Herbert album “Musca” featuring vocalist Mel Uye-Parker, set for release 22nd October on Accidental Records. This follows earlier sounds from the album, Fantasy featuring Verushka and The Way featuring Y’akoto.

Slated for release 22nd October on Accidental Records, Musca is the next in the series of domestic house albums to follow Herbert’s groundbreaking LP classics Around The House (1998), and Bodily Functions (2001) which were recently reissued on triple colored vinyl.

Cowboy Rhythmbox are Nathan Gregory Wilkins and Richard X, latest signings to Phantasy. Coming together to create their own singular strain of music for dancing, they draw on a collective love of outsider house, bargain bin cut-outs, hard drive debris, rudimentary jack trax, obscure TV themes, Euro disco, EBM, Detroit Techno, the Smith & Wesson Model 3 and horses.

"We Got The Box" brings to life the playground game of repeat-a-word-until-it-sounds-weird, pushing and pulling a disembodied voice by milliseconds to create a hypnotic mind episode. On the flip "Rattle" takes off where their debut track "Shake" left off, a devastating barrage of industrial drums and frenetic chants.

Having reissued the excellent Platonos album Galop last year, Dark Entries return with another dose of Lena goodness, transforming her gentle harmonics into dancefloor bliss. The culprits are Tel Aviv's Red Axes, who start their thrashing by moulding "Witches" into a deep, sleek, and masterfully contained groove featuring the artiste's vocals at the helm - perfectly detuned and distorted.

Invisible City returns with the hotly anticipated reissue of Amajovi Jovi by Durban’s O.G. kwaito giant, Sandy B.  Originally self-released on cassette and a white label 12”, rumour has it Sandy had to remake the tracks from memory because even he couldn’t find a copy. 
 
In its original post-apartheid context, Amajovi Jovi was a sign of youthful subversiveness, rebellious creativity and a neck snapping rejection to the fascist groove of a silenced nation.  While the Pantsulla hustler nods to house legends like Jamie Principle and Pal Joey, its hip hop breaks and interludes show a clear affection for Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle.  At its slowed down tempo however, this low-fi kwaito masterpiece turns away from its American influence and looks towards Baldelli and his cosmos.  Best of all are Sandy’s vocals— deep, melodic Zulu rap, sung flippantly—the way that only a true gangster could.  It now stands as one of the finest glimpses of 90s party music to ever be blasted at the underground parties of the South African townships.

‘Echoes From Mamori’ was originally commissioned by my friend Adnan Yildiz who was curating a show called There Is No Audience in Montehermoso, Spain in 2009. They wanted to have a theme song running on loop in the exhibition space. I’d just been in the Amazon recording sounds for the Darwin theatre piece with Hotel Pro Forma and thought it could be fun to make something dancey with the animal sounds I’d collected. The track features frogs that sound like birds, fed into my sampler and played on a keyboard, resulting in fun arpeggios and melodies. I think it might also feature some birds I recorded in the forests around Berlin. ‘Echoes In Mamori” was only made available as a CD handed out at the exhibition so it's nice to see it finally get a proper release via Rabid Records.

Following last year's 'Kiyadub' EP, Andrew Weatherall returns to Byrd Out later this month with a brand new 12". Having invited his mate Andy Bell (y'know, him out of Ride) round to his studio to buy a Les Paul, Andrew suggested that he test the guitar out over a track he was working on, which then became the b-side here 'Making Friends With The Invader'.

We're very happy to be premiering the title track 'Blue Bullet', a trippy, dubbed-out construction with a surprisingly affecting melody which tunnels under your skin and refuses to leave.
