For almost ten years, Producer and DJ James Weissinger (Zillas on Acid) has collaborated with Philadelphia-based video artist “Babystar'' (Carolina Leis-Usher) under the name GIRLS CHAT ROOM.

The new GIRLS CHAT ROOM album SLEEP MASK sees the duo log back into the chat with eight new songs exploring a range of important contemporary themes: the perennial perils of the gig economy (“Bubble Tea”), a lack of rest in an increasingly wired world (“Sleep Mask”), the laugh-track sitcom-ification of everyday life (“TV Turkey”), Gen Z and its piddling preoccupations (“Look at My Friends”), facial cleansing routines as spiritual salvation (“We Got Those Faces”), the post-industrial dance mantra imaginary (“Metal Chant”), vanilla-scented New Age skepticism gone awry (“Déjà Vu”), and wet blankets (“Wet Blanket”). Taken together, these songs tear the collective “sleep mask” from our faces, encouraging us to WAKE UP, look around, and then ok maybe go back to sleep amidst the burning parking lot fire of the early 21st century.

For those who have already taken the Girls Chat Room Revolutionary Pledge of Allegiance, SLEEP MASK is a powerful return to form and the logical next step in GCR’s aesthetic evolution. For those just starting to sip the Kool-Aid, the release might just be the beginning of a lifelong journey into the GCR lifestyle.

The beach was crowded, the good folks from out of town had decided that today was the day to descend upon the pearly shores and celebrate as if the sun was taking its final breath. This wasn't the city that he knew though. He knew of another side of town...

San Diego was the name given to the front facing extravaganza which was beach parlours and candy floss. San Diago were the streets which sat behind the glimmering facade, where the real people lived and had fun once the darkness had fallen.

They lived on street corners, laughed and hung out as the stars flickered up above. Really it all belonged to them.

Davis Harks and Max Essa return for 4 tracks of impeccably produced dreamy pop, balearic wanderings and hypnotic chug.

Magic Eyes kicks things off with a track that hints at the sunset of acid house with chugging rave keys, back-in-the-day bass synth and a whole heap of soulful melancholia. It's a deep, slow groover with strangely hypnotic, repetitive vocal murmurings that soar.

Plastic Bones has baggy poetry that flows along to a positive mantra shining bright; 'come let it go, take the first step to lighten the load, you're one of a kind'. Joyfully strange and lovely, there's a Beta Band mood to go with dreams of the Mediterranean.

Finally, Blind Horizons is a pure extended odyssey of lilting polished pop. David wrote the song with the idea of taking a listener through a journey aboard a Cosmic Starlight Cutter. An epic and vast voyage, the sentiment is a reminder to keep searching. With a more classic song feel, it is driven by classic piano chords and cycles, drum machines, and layered synths.

Exclusive DAF 'Goldenes Spielzeug (LOR Remix)'

German avant-garde post punk techno-band DAF, short for Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, was formed in Dusseldorf in 1977 as a five piece group that winnowed down to two members in the end, Gabi Delgado and Robert Görl. Almost 40 years after their first album, 'Ein Produkt der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Freundschaft', a special vinyl box, consisting of the very first four albums and 15 exclusive reworks, is set to be released including LOR's remix for DAF's cut 'Goldenes Spielzeug'. The Belfast based producer comes along with a clean interpretation of the original that finds its home in the space between the house and techno genre, simply using few synth chords to emphasize DAF's lyrics and make the track sound like a timeless yet contemporary piece of music that retells a piece of electronic music's history in the presen,t or as DAF would say it's 'a golden toy' for the dance floors.
