Volta Cab transports us, once again, into his own-defined post-punk universe, bringing nostalgia from 80s synthwave and 90s beats in his own modern context.Throughout his new EP “Alphabet of Humanity”, Volta Cab creates raw emotions from the first track to the last.
There is a before and an after when listening to the subtle arrangement and dynamics of each tune, as the atmosphere that embeds his music can only let our imagination flow.

There are some characters and labels so intertwined with the story of specific music genres that is virtually impossible to discuss them without mentioning the importance and relevance of such masterminds and imprints. Take the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene for instance. We dare you to talk about it without bringing up Sir Neil Parnell aka Tronik Youth (SXDNS050) and his mighty platform NEIN Records during your music talks.

With a behemoth of a catalogue overflowing with dark cuts, NEIN is undoubtedly one of the most vital outlets in the dark side of music. Neil is equally impressive, distilling his creativity with a plethora of originals and collaborations throughout his career of twenty-something years. Having a NEIN-only year so far, he brings to life his third EP of the year and invited Fred Berthet and Calystarr for the remix duties. Premiered here, the latter’s contribution.

Adrián Peña Sánchez aka Calystarr is a DJ and producer from Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz. For his third appearance on NEIN, his mission of providing an interpretation for the big boss must have been a tough one – but nothing that would make the skilled Spanish virtuoso have cold feet. His complex and stark version brings together a few of his main influences, resulting in an intricate concoction of Cold Wave, EBM, and Industrial with a kind of spooky aura.

In this offering by the Berlin-based and made in the Middle East label Disco Halal, we bring you something fresh from Tel Aviv. Following Naduve‘s releases on Rothmans and Cocktail d'Amore, it’s time for him to come back home. This release comes tastefully spread with Saturn Memories (Marius of Coma) special Tahini remix.
We shook hands with one of them. The handshake is thought by some to have originated as a gesture of peace by demonstrating that the hand holds no weapon. This ancient, short ritual took place several times, here, with some limited success. Does this ritual hold any meaning anymore? The race is long, far from being close to it’s end. It’s a race for a handshake.
This record is one of many efforts to make this race be heard. It may sound naive now, or even pathetic, but what are we to do? When cousins meet at family dinners they might fight each other for the chance to raise the cup “The Father’s name”. This battle is soaked with the music of their family, they know each other by its fabric. We wish to take them to the dance floor and play them music to shake hands to.

In the darkest basement the cries echoed cheerfully in the black. As she wandered steadily forwards she began to hear the sound of drums and caught a glimpse of the frantic faces which hustled past her in the hallway. The lights began to flash and the music filled the little space. She had been warned about people like this, the dancers amidst the midnight hour. The love, enthusiasm and hectic disorientation had left her excited and wanting more. 

Avatism delivers a hard hitting EP on Vakant as he draws upon distant soundscapes and the hammer of drums.

Having stared into his reflection for the past hour, frozen in fear and horrified. Pink aura surrounding her mirror image, she shuddered, unable to take her eyes away from the darkest and yet the brightest of mirrors. 
It took all the strength she mustered to murmur 'I'm not interested in you, because you remind me of me, you do.'
Toronto based My Favourite Robot, the label and production unit return with a corker of a dancefloor filler 'Pink Horror'. Entschuldigung is the producer behind the buttons and brings an acid laced stomper with a cynical vocal which gives the track a nasty edge to the track. The kick and bubbling bassline keep the track more than dancefloor friendly (if that is the right word, friendly, this track is not!) and with fans such as Ivan Smagghe and Seth Troxler among a host of other DJs, Expect to be hearing this one to be the soundtrack to what looks to be the summer of hate.
