The ceremony had begun. In a circle they sat - legs crossed, minds activated - following the softly spoken words of the shaman as he welcomed them in. The music travelled around the space: at times capturing their attention, at others sending them into a trance. As one they drank deeply, allowing the liquid to swirl and churn in their stomachs, before waiting for its final release and for their minds to truly open.

This time last year, Argentinian producer Balam landed on Lyon's Hard Fist Records, to pay tribute to the Latin rhythms and percussion that have become a signature in his productions. 'Chants of Pachamama Part 1' was a deep dive into these traditional sounds that Balam effortlessly fuses with contemporary electronics to create something completely his own.

This time, for the second and final instalment, he explores the ritual and practice of magic plants synonymous with the South American rainforest. Across the original tracks ceremonial chants and live percussion are layered over hypnotic modular synths and heavy bass lines, while on the flip Matias Aguayo closes proceedings with his own dark, twisted take on 'Wakax'.

Following that, the dynamic girl duo Moozeic from Brazil offers a remix with a unique and psychedelic sound, contributing their own twist to the musical journey. Lastly, Ludviq, the label head, closes the EP with a trippy version and a clubby vibe for "Frequent Habits," showcasing his take on the original tracks.

Bufi & Kubebe are pleased to announce the release of "Sternana Remixes," a package of reinterpretations of their latest collaborative EP, originally released under our sister label, Fauna Reve. This new release showcases the unique visions of Balam, Tyu, Mufit, and Hermetics, who transform the original tracks through their personal styles, taking the musical experience to new and exciting dimensions.
The EP opens strongly with Balam's remix of "Sternana," an acidic and energetic track infused with trance vibes. It is followed by Tyu's remix of "El Jockey," which blends enveloping drums, resonant basslines, and psychedelic elements to create a hypnotic and captivating atmosphere.
Directly from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mufit arrives with his remix of "Cicatriz," a deep cut that combines break drums with electrifying bass. New Zealand’s brightest new star, Vanessa Worm returns to Optimo Music with the first single from her upcoming album, “Vanessa 77”, which was due out in May but has been postponed until later in the year due to current uncertainties over vinyl releases.

This track is FIRE and had been road tested to phenomenal response. Vanessa 100% has her own thing going on and has been tearing up the Australian and New Zealand club and festival circuit with her incendiary live performances.

We asked her for some words about this song, which feel particularly relevant to our current predicament - 

"To me, In Heaven We Are is almost a kind of Mantra. I speak to myself and therefore to you, to the collective & to the Earth. Asking us to see heaven, to feel heaven, to ask you what your version of Heaven on Earth is, and to encourage us to live that, breathe that and be that. In order to bring light, new creation and love to this earth, ultimately to aid in the Healing of the Earth and the people within it."
