The first X-Kalay release of 2022 finds Melbourne’s Escape Artist traversing wormholes, complete with an assist from the ever-prolific Roza Terenzi.

Picking up where a 2019 Salt Mines debut left off, ‘Wanna Dance’ allows proggy tendencies to flourish across some mind-altering electro. Portals to higher planes of consciousness and uncharted star systems fling open as widescreen, celestial pads make way for lysergic climax.

Ramping up the intensity with her ‘Bassbin Mix’, Roza Terenzi jumps on remix duties; another electro workout, but this time more urgent, more propulsive. Bringing the tribal-breakbeat pressure in spades, it’s quintessential Terenzi.

More prog, but leaning further towards cosmic techno percolation, ‘Levitator’ finds mazy arpeggios in seemingly infinite ascent. ‘Time Knife’, on the other hand, is a radiant, beatless highlight. Deploying cascading synth arps to truly mesmeric effect, it sees the Antipodean achieve sublime tension in a rare moment of introspection.

It felt as though everything had been leading up to this day. Months of preparation, endless check lists and emails threads had turned into a full time job with the nights and days rolling into one. Organisation had been paramount but with something on this scale it was inevitable it couldn't run without at least a small glitch. Or perhaps even a huge glitch. Sure, they could continue to speculate and expect the worst but, whatever happened, the show must go on.

Birmingham-based party space•lab are taking their first steps into the label world with a mission to bring wrigglers and warpers from all corners of the galaxy. They kick things off with an inaugural V/A that rallies together members of the Holding Hands Records family - Desert Sound Colony, Adam Pits and Breaka - as well as Rupert Worthington, Alex Anderson and label boss Dr. Baird, for four tracks that traverse proggy trance, warped acid rollers and crisp breaks. Our pick from Breaka and Adam Pits is a classy breakbeat cut that's name is inspired by the time Dr. Baird reversed a van into a parked car whilst setting up a space•lab party, the party where the three of them met.

If I am being honest, there isn't a whole lot that I know about INDEX:Records. Apparently, they are a record label that was started in 2017 and consists of artists from Manchester, Berlin, and Auckland. Self-described as "confusing af," INDEX:Records are clearly a group that doesn't take themselves too seriously. However, the level of in which they give absolutely no fucks should be commended. I honestly haven't laughed this hard researching a label in quite some time. For god's sake, their about page reads:

"The future is Cyborg Orgy. We, with machines, are penetrating and generating. We metabolise our instruments, giving them life and personifying them for our own devices. It is the conscious touch which has the ability to awaken the complexities of these mechanisms and arouse their own personalities."

How can you not fall in love with these guys? In all seriousness though, label heads Con + Mos actually release some highly original and experimental music. Their seventh record, which comes out today, features new music from Berlin producer Ike Zwanikken, simply known as "Ike." Featuring two original compositions and a remix by GOD69, the lads seem to be putting all that robot fucking they're doing to good use. A great example of this is Ike's "Kiwami Formed," which you can listen to above. Although elements of the song are quite futuristic and mechanical in nature, the tune still manages to exude a level of sexiness that's undeniably human. Take into account it's break-dancing assortment of electro wobbles and energetic drum patterns, it's only a matter of time before "Kiwami Formed" will have you up, dancing, and all hot and bothered.

Although the partying side of things for GODDEZZ have been on hold (due to the obvious), the London party starters have been keeping quality stuff flowing through their record label. After the release of their successful debut compilation, and recent remix package for it, they welcome AHJU for some blissful party sounds.
