RSN Premieres April 2016

A Dub Techno Journey is a compilation that traverses Dantes circles of Hell, transforming them into hypnotic and profound soundscapes. Each track represents a canto from Dantes Inferno, interpreted by producers from different parts of the world, united by a shared sensitivity for dub techno vibrations. The idea was conceived by Francesco Tamburrano, who envisioned a musical journey blending literature and sonic exploration, and took shape through the collaboration with the label Superordinate, always attentive to visionary projects with an international scope. The result is a dark and immersive path, where enveloping basslines and deep echoes guide the listener on a sonic pilgrimage through Dantes Inferno.

The mountains roared as the planet crashed towards the sun amidst the harrowing sky. Grey and white flashed monstrously past as the stars distorted the clouded vision of the blackened evening. Planet Zagan had longs since been in trouble. It was only a matter of time before it finally crashed in a blurry ball of chaos with the fiery energies of the great fire. The time had come, and Zagan would cease to exist for any further forward. Zagan was gone.

The tape machine crackled and popped as the system whirred into life. The hiss of electrics reverberated and an image began to flash on the screen. It was blurry, distorted and messy. It reminded him of a far more simplistic time, a time in which the tascam loop was king and this new age era of electronics was yet to exist. He missed the tascam loops.

The clock made barely a noise in that busy office. It was but a piece of background detail amidst the shouts, cries, phone bashing and flabbergasted employees of the Wall Street building. The crash had hit them all hard but they hadn't expected it to necessarily be as bad as it now was. Time was absolutely of the essence now, and they had to find it once again to ensure the future of the company remained upheld and afloat. Find time is never easy, but now so, it was more difficult than ever. 

Here is the latest release from the Axe On Wax sub label Axe Traxx. It sees the Australian duo Sonderr offer up three tracks as part of an interesting EP which also features a remix from Mall Grab.

The great plains of Hayal sprawled into the distance before them as they looked towards the last of the dying sunlight. The beams of gold cast a warm glow over the fields of long reeds which blew in the lazy wind. Little sound could be heard but the chirping of birds and the rustle of grass, they had found peace at last. From this day forth the tribe would live in sweet harmony with the lush countryside of Hayal, its fruits, offerings and provisions. They were home.

The plot had finally been unleashed, a cruel twist of fate which would leave a bitter taste in the mouth for all that heard the story. It had never looked particularly likely that a positive outcome would emerge from the situation, but none had ever imagined it would in the bizarre, chaotic state in which it closed. A cruel story, a bitter story, a cruel tale, a bitter tale. 

Up next on the I'm A Cliche record label steps Cosmo Vitelli. His latest EP sees him offer up three diverse and intriguing pieces of music which reflect the labels sound well. It is also accompanied by a rather exciting remix from none other than French maestro, producer and connoisseur I:Cube who's music often comes in sporadic bursts.

The fruit was luxurious and sweet. She plucked it from the trees within the grove, the tall fences which lined the beautiful green branches seemed not as fierce and frightening as they first had when she had arrived. The manor house cast a long shadow down the garden and in the distance she could smell the delicious cooking of her mother. She ran between the leaves excitedly for she had spent too long beneath the sun for now. It was time to retreat to the shade.

As always, the vibe is deep, smoldering, emotive, innovative and unapologetically cosmic as we’re pushed headfirst into Correspondant’s boundary-less soundscape. From the coiled spring funk of Javi Redondo’s ‘Fictional Friendship’ to the hypnotic harmonics and trippy vocal textures of Uriah Klapter’s ‘Breeze’ via the slinky arpeggiated charm of Marvin & Guy’s ‘Cowboy Disco’, it’s another sublime excursion from one of the most consistent and considered imprints on the left side of techno.

Norwegian producer Fjordfunk delivers his first solo album on his Alo imprint this September entitled ‘Infinite Zest’. Jann Marius Dahle aka Fjordfunk is a producer from Norway who’s been releasing records since 1998 on labels such as Trailer Park, MBF and Prins Thomas’ Tamburin imprint. In 2000 he partnered up with K.Y.D. and formed the group K.Y.D. & Kango going on to work with labels Slip´N´Slide, Estereo, Ascension, Defender, Henya and Beatservice in addition to performing live at seminal clubs such as Panorama Bar, Fabric and Week-end. In 2008 Jann started his Luna Flicks imprint with Strangefruit releasing music from artists such as Ost & Kjex, Skatebård, Hardway Bros and himself picking up support from the likes of DJ Harvey, Andrew Weatherall, Bjorn Torske, Bill Brewster, Todd Terje, Jennifer Cardini and many more. After almost fifteen years living in Oslo and Berlin he moved back to his native town of Harstad and started working on his ‘Infinite Zest’ album inspired by an array of musical styles and experiences that helped shape the story.

Casino Times demonstrate their cunning yet natural and flowing sound with two originals on Mireia Records. “Rush” and “Kawai” are a proper trip of thier own, psychedelic pinball machines that’ll catapult you to the further edges of the known sphere. Working his signature slow-burn magic on his remix of “Rush” is Filburt. Lush pad sounds oppose salient drumming, slowly tightening the atmosphere while a robotic voice evokes a melancholic mood. The whole night’s rooted on this fervid bassline and it’ll carry you into next Monday.

The man traced his finger across the map, studying the route he'd taken over the last week. The journey had been unexpected, full of surprises and various twists and turns, good and bad. The promise of good food, shelter and company had kept him going through this solitary pilgrimage and now he was so close he could smell the home cooking and hear the lively celebrations. He approached the huge door, took a deep breath and knocked loudly. No answer. He knocked again. Still no answer. Then his eye caught a sign to the right - "No More Room" was scrawled across it. After all this time and work, he was to be refused entry, unable to reap the benefits that he truly deserved...

To mark the end of the year, Jennifer Cardini is releasing the next annual compilation on her label Correspondant; lucky number seven. Compilation 07  features a stellar cast of artists with close ties to the imprint, or its experimental sister label Dischi Autunno, including Rina, Damon Jee, Zombies In Miaimi, Julian Stetter, Concret & Cantor, Javi Redondo and Terr, as well as a host of new talented friends.

A few years ago, Tito Velcro, Elena Hikari and Rare Wiri founder Rayko joined forces in the studio and produced a handful of decidedly Balearic tracks. Now, having sat on Rayko's hard drive for "a few years", they're finally getting a deserved release courtesy of Citizens of Vice. 

"You're Not Alone" is suitably special, with swirling and evocative vocals from Hikari rising above lazy, laidback guitar riffs, dreamy chords, bubbly beats and soft-touch synth sounds, while 'Unforgettable' is a chugging, slow-motion treat that wraps sparkling synth lines and echoing guitars around echoing beats and low-slung bass. 

Rayko provides a slightly more club-friendly nu-disco take on 'You're Not Alone', while Ilya Santana re-imagines the same track as a sparse, sunrise-ready chunk of Balearic electrofunk.
