We are proud to present another debut on Axces Records, this time from label head @Alfred092. The A side kicks off with Mimis, an explorative bass driven track with crisp snares and bubbling synthesizers. Next up is the title track Helfand, whose experimental sounds and textures take things in a mystic IDM like direction. On the B side we Adax_pcp, a hypnotic club cut which further explores complex pulsating outernational rhythms. Finally to seal the deal we have Scalex, a twisted dancehall tune with splashes of futuristic sound design.

After 5 years of 'Fortnightly Freebies' columns collating our favourite free downloads, we decided to do things a bit differently for the 100th chapter. Introducing 'Big Material', a 19-track 'name your price' compilation that will donate 100% of profits made to Stonewall Housing, a London-based charity supporting some of the most marginalised and vulnerable in our society.

At a time when unfair austerity is increasing inequality and leaving so many behind, we hope to support a community that has given so much to the 'scene' and music we love. Digi-dub abstractions and drifting ambient to kaleidoscopic breaks and newly-coined genre, 'subtle donk', it's a pretty accurate microcosm of the If-Only curation as a whole.

Big Material pulls together music from some of If-Only's favourite artists, with tracks from @apsychicyes, @riveryarra, Material Things (@12th-isle), @priori-ties, @nicholaswilson1982 & @steviewhisper, @benoitb, @maxabysmal, @58daniel, @bogdan-drazic, @whyesss, @twitch, @warzouk, @thomasbakk, @eyemeasure, @rdjm0, @furiousfrank, Moonphase (AKA @cl_lit), @moonbowmusic and @aki-aki.

The water glimmered under the afternoon sun, each ripple or wave sparkling as if a thousand diamonds lay beneath its surface. It had been a long time since she'd seen the sea, longer than she could remember. Slightly overwhelmed, she made her way to the water's edge, a calming breeze ruffling her hair as she sat down and pulled off her shoes. Cautiously she dipped her toes in, allowing the waves to lap against her ankles for a moment. Then with a smile and a quick glance over her shoulder, she held her breath and dived straight in.

Predominantly shining a light on a wealth of exciting producers coming out of his home of Australia, Lou Karsh AKA Reptant's LKR Records has played host to the likes of Jensen Interceptor, Assembler Code, Bleekman & Daze, as well as several releases from Lou himself. Now looking across the pond to Montreal, Planet Euphorique boss D. Tiffany AKA Sophie Sweetland brings her atmospheric compositions to the label. Aptly named Cruel Trance, the EP floats through hazy, sub-aquatic electronics; from deep, percussive rhythms through to IDM-tinged bleeps, immersive dub techno and broken electro.

Armed with only an 808, a tape machine and a grip of old Horror movie soundtracks DJ Cabbage (the rap-beat alter ego of Luca Lozano aka Planetluke.com) sat down and built the first volume of his Criminal Simulation series.

The project, which is a collaboration with Berlin based multi-faceted agency and lifestyle store Sporadic manifests in a C30 tape cassette with direct on-body printing and a longsleeve tshirt.

The tape features 10 separate tracks mixed continuously and harks back to the gory glory days of early Memphis tape rap, rough and unpolished, unapologetic and raw.

DJ CABBAGE - CRIMINAL SIMULATION VOLUME ONE

Hailing from Rotterdam, Joginda Macnack and Mike Richards are the duo behind Black Cadmium. Cited as DJs, producers, and radio hosts of Surinamese descent, they are influenced by the London - Detroit connection with their sets often filled with UKG, euphoric techno, and the wide-reaching span of the hardcore continuum - all killers, no fillers. This attitude transcends throughout their productions, with releases on Afro Deep, Vaultwax, Ovum, and Carista’s United Identities imprint. Now Black Cadmium make their debut on Portuguese label naive with ‘Chemistry’ EP, out on the 27th November. Their relationship with the label was first introduced to us through their contribution to naive’s mix series where they contributed the 50th mix earlier this year, and now they return with a selection of serious dance floor weapons. On ‘Everything’ you will find a rolling acid number that builds into a hypnotic techno record, drawing influence from late 80s Chicago jack and 90s Plastikman techno.
