On his fourth EP, Tim Crombie aka A Psychic Yes invites us to follow him off the beaten track – or dancefloor. With their mix of leftfield grooves, intuitive instrumentation and dreamlike field recordings, these cuts apply club principles to the soundscape of a distant yet familiar world. A bus radio clamours in a terminus in South India. Industrious algorithms go about their daily routines. The sun breaks through a dense canopy, illuminating the damp undergrowth and the psychedelic critters that call it home. Close your eyes and let your mind and feet lead you.

Taiwanese label JIN records enters 2022, with a new promising release by South Korea's Yetsuby. As always searching for gems in the pan-Asian domain, JIN is delighted to have Yetsuby for its latest/6th release.

On this EP, one-half of the ambient duo Salamanda, Yetsuby showcases her expertise in mood setting soundscapes, taking listeners on a sound journey across a wide array of musical spectra.

Opening on A1, Yetsuby reinterprets a traditional Korean folk story of a bear devouring garlic and green onions, transforming the animal into a human being. Aptly named " Bear Becomes Human," she transforms the transformed, turning the bear into a buzzing modern drum & bass-fused energetic tune. It turns out garlic is a powerful source after all.

A2, "Bay," follows a similar initial DnB focused path but in less-than-a-minute diverges into a slow-burning IDMesqe track that gently bounces between piano loops and repeating ambiances. B1's "Jelly" showcases Yetsuby's talent for stripped-back glitch music: With a minimal bass and drum pattern, the track gently muddles along and presents itself as well suited warm-up track for the earlier hours of any party.

On the final track, New Zealand’s Eden Burns takes an entirely different path on his reinterpretation of Jelly. Embarking from the original pattern, he turns the original into a slow brewing psychedelic trance cracker that seems most suited for the early morning after hours that need an energy boost.

'Barcelona 92' is the second EP from Madrid 79 in fuego en casa after 'Aciday'. Four tracks of old Electro-Techno. While 'Aciday' depicted a day in an imaginary Madrid in the 80s, 'Barcelona92' talks 30 years after the olympic games about an alternative reality past of Barcelona where robots did sport and dance while the original town was destroyed for something more modern.

Made up live with analogue synths basslines and acid bleeps, the four tracks of the EP develop techno electro beats for the dancefloor.

It starts with Barcelona 99 with heavy 909 routines and plenty of optimism about the future. Continues with Barcelona 95 developing the electro synths when the city is built and the robotic athletes are in. Continues with the happy acid of Barcelona 98 in the B side and the EP finalises with a whole bleep acid experience : the party is over and the city as well.

Everything had to be in its place, from the hairs on her forehead to the sheen of her shoes and the placement of the ornaments on her mantel piece. She wanted things to be just so. And so she expected the same from everybody around her, but they could never meet her high standards, she sometimes couldn't reach her own. From the outside you'd assume she had a handle on each and every element of her life, but deep down she was never happy, there was always something that could be improved. 

For his self-titled debut album under the moniker Dumbo Tracks, Cologne producer Jan Philipp Janzen (known elsewhere for his work as Von Spar, Die Sterne and Urlaub in Polen) explores the world of dub in its many forms. Linking up with a long list of collaborators, including the likes of DJ Koze, Portable, Die Nerven’s Julian Knoth and Peaking Lights’ Indra Dunis, the LP celebrates the idea of the studio and the possibilities of post-production, a core component in the creation of dub music, by honing in on each element and approaching each one them as a separate instrument.

Relentless is a typical JK-track - an unagitated propellent piece with a melodic note and several bassline intermezzi keeping the track rolling, the crowd moving and proves why Jacob's been at the top of his game for so long.

EXCLUSIVE: Jacob Korn - Relentless [Uncanny Valley]

We joyfully welcome fellow Glasgow denizen Nightwave to Optimo Music with this three track EP. A long time DJ, producer and label runner, it took just one listen to the transcendent "Prince Of Flowers" to know it was a great fit for the label. It's not unlike a 21st century reboot of something from Chris & Cosey's uber classic "Songs Of Love & Lust" album. Combined with two other, more jacking tracks it makes for an enticing EP. We asked Maya to tell us a little about the release and here’s what she said -

Prince Of Flowers EP is a part of my continuous exploration of tying together electronic production and club culture with my work and study with plant medicines and traditions of the Amazon rainforest. For the last few years I’ve tried to merge the energies, joy and melodies of the two worlds together and see where it takes me. Turns out it all comes from the same place and I’m so excited to share it with you on a label so very special to me.

Especial and Giraffi Dog return with 2nd part of their concept EPs of live / studio collaboration.  Digging deep they present Multiverse (Infinite 2), bringing their live showcase to vinyl – the completion of the duality of your innerspace, now unconstrained for outerspace.

The forced hiatus to their live experience hopefully over, the final EP comes in two parts, a real-time live recording, followed by more studio reimagining to close.  To start, 6th Chakra is pure Giraffi Dog.  Featuring Doom Chakra Tapes founder, DJ Deflektorschild, this rough and spacey opener is a breaks-mantra, the third eye open, Ajna flowing intuition, realisation and imagination. Recorded live at the Warning Festival 2022, promoters and label compadres offered the perfect platform to showcase the Dog’s energy as the meeting of MPCs, drum machines, synth, loops, FX and more morphs to present the mind-modulating King OTN as the party set peaks.  

Again cut as a continuous mix, Anagh lifts to DX Metero.  Floating, spinning, ethereal, before piano introduces Starfather, the skyward ending.  Hopeful, melancholy - bywords of Especial on it’s meandering journey.  A long time due but worth the wait, Giraffi Dog beamed live and direct, watch those stars.

After Brexit, we thought it would be a brave attempt to snatch the Queen's interpretational sovereignty over the colour purple. So, we have named our new record just like that. Of course, this is only half the truth, as we named all six other UV050 compilation records after colours as well. The purple one, this one right here, is the second to last, completely with the wonderful artwork by Leipzig’s Doppeldenk and four tracks to dance your ass off to.
Krakow’s Chino shows us how to balance perfectly between straightforward urgency and mystic playfulness. His acidic FORBIDDEN VOICES sports just the right amount of chaos to make you go crazy on the dancefloor. Being a spiritual brother for a long time, it’s actually the first time Berliner Johannes Albert releases on Uncanny Valley with his VISION UTOPIA, a subtle House bomb, that pushes just the right buttons to trigger your desire to escape into cosmos.
Also from Berlin comes Lake People, who does what he does best with ROAMING THE STREETS: A subtle and razor-sharp track that points out that good dance music can sweeten your life everywhere, not only in the club.
