2017 sees Dekmantel celebrating its 10th anniversary. A decade ago, the Amsterdam crew threw their first party in the Dutch capital; two years later Dekmantel Records followed. To celebrate this special occasion, the label will release ten EPs over the course of 2017 – every month one, starting in March, with the first EP dropping today - from artists that have shaped them into what they are today. On the bill are, amongst others, Ricardo Villalobos, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Fatima Yamaha, Legowelt, and Tom Trago.

For this series, Dekmantel invited producers who are close to their hearts, have been with them since day one or made a big musical impact on the crew. Amongst these are longtime friends like Juju & Jordash, Palms Trax, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Joy Orbison and Young Marco. Apart from these seasoned names, it’s with great pleasure to have welcome newcomers including Huerco S, Ectomorph, Shanti Celeste, Syracuse and Levon Vincent onboard. Last but certainly not least; a couple of stone cold geniuses will be responsible for a track on the series as well. Amongst them are Can percussionist Burnt Friedman, Donato Dozzy, Tony Allen, The Egyptian Lover and Ricardo Villallobos. 

The second special EP comes from striking electronic artist Call Super—who returns after his 2016 EP on the label—and party starting house star Shanti Celeste who makes her debut after many great EPs on labels like Apron and Secretsundaze. Call Super offers ‘Fluenka Spoke’, a multi layered rack with shimmering synths and pads and glitchy beats down low. Shanti’s ‘Hinoki’ then shows off the producer’s more techno side with a tough and urgent banger that trippy sound design and soul infused chords all urging you to dance.

Jeremy Hyman steps up to FT with the first of two 12" EPs that are a coordinated blast of colorful, galaxy-edge plastic techno from the master percussionist who moonlights in Lifted, Boredoms, Animal Collective, and more. Always rhythmatic in exciting ways, Hyman's drum programming here is more arms than buttons, injecting a fly human element in the 12". "Slide" does what it says with amazing technoid bass work and a propulsive sense of timing, "Madness" hovers and falls and hovers again, and "Tinted Mirror" is some sort of Foodman-meets-Prescription-Records house symphony, rising and rising and rising. On the approach to his house he noticed clothes strewn across the street and a huge pile of cardboard boxes clumsily chucked outside the door. Either side of the road, his neighbours looked on bewildered, a couple trying to hide their laughter at his public humiliation. He looked down at his phone and the 100 missed calls, wondering if it was too late to call back...

South London label PROGRAMM are starting life with a three-track V/A, which gives a taste of what you can expect from their releases to come. With a mission to deliver soundsystem frequencies that will make you dance, the label and party will also act as a platform for emerging producers and DJs pushing UK bass music. PROGRAMM001 calls on the skills of three up-and-coming artists, D3u5E (who's lined up for a future release on the label), label co-founder ZhaR and our pick from South America via London's Falter.
