One of Detroit Swindle's highlights of last year was Nebraska’s ‘Soften the wireless’ EP, with disco stomper Khan’s Bargain, and an amazing Tom Noble remix. Since then, they have seen him take on quite a few live shows again, playing at Claire during ADE, and Concrete for their label showcases. He’s also managed to ﬁnd a bit of time to focus on his fresh (new and cool) edit label ‘Friends and Relations’. Luckily, since they’ve been nagging him to do a new EP for Heist just enough for him to still like them, and more than enough for him to want to get it over with, they’ve gotten their hands on another set of amazing tunes. So they are happy to present his amazing music, nicely packaged in one handy record for your listening pleasure : the ‘Metaphor to the ﬂoor’ EP. 
You’ll feel a hint of that Nebraska classic ‘This is the way’ on the lead track ‘Afﬁrmation’, with its subtle build up and release of energy, looping vocals, and dramatic chords. Aglio e Olio is not only a simple yet tasty Italian dish with of just 5 ingredients, it’s also quite the track on this EP, equalling the dish in terms of simplicity and strength. Snares on the 1, Clavi style hits and a loose arrangement give this track a great funk – house crossover appeal. 
On the ﬂip, we’ve got fellow Londoner Laurence Guy, who just released an amazing album on the equally cool ‘Church’. His version of Aglio e Olio is a dreamier excursion with ﬁltered pads, acidey licks and more than enough balls in the low end to get you movin’ in your dim-lit club of choice.  The ep’s ﬁnal track sees Nebraska turning the energy up a notch or 2 (or 3), with ‘Big plate chicken’. It’s the sort of track you would imagine Omar S. producing if he would be just a bit whiter, and a bit more British. Whatever that means.

The latest instalment on @Roam-Recordings comes from Mexican artist @TheusMago (aka Bufi). Who has released on a who's who of recognised labels such as Correspondent, Turbo, Kill The DJ, La Dame Noir, and DURO Here he brings his characteristic production style to Roam with a psychedelic banger known as the 'Erotic Polymorphic Experience'.

The EP features three top remixes from the likes of Brioski,  Cabizbajo and @JamiePaton-1. The latter spattering vocals and snare treatments, creating a grinding leftfield bomb.

Not sure if you’re ready for this but the feeling is exhilarating yet terrifying. Everything is under your control and you’ve never felt more powerful. “Dominator” by Kalipo & Local Suicide is an electro anthem filled with physicality and furor, and the exact feeling of determinedness and power. Vamparela’s vocals are similar to that voice inside your gut that you can’t get enough of, while the driven baseline and 80s inspired analog synths will occupy your mind and centre your thoughts. “Crocodile”, the second track of the release, is the other side of the coin - not any less definite, however more haunted and introspected in contrast. It isn’t always easy, but let’s take authority and dance it out before life consumes us!

The double single “Dominator / Crocodile” will be released on February 5th via Hold Your Ground, including mixes by Theus Mago a.k.a. Bufi from Mexico City and Radial Gaze from Saint Petersburg.
