Although the identity of the producer remains mysterious, the beautiful 6-tracker, accompanied by a full print sleeve, brims with quality ritualistic breakbeats, electro and sophisticated ambient.

As he lay there shivering, his eyes firmly focussed on the ceiling up above, he was transfixed and caught up in a state of terror which hypnotised his body and left him cold. He'd been having these night visions for some time, hallucinations and wild dreams which felt as if they might blur the lines between reality and fantasy. The darkness engulfed him and swallowed him whole, it left a bitter taste upon the tongue and he couldn't keep track of the times he'd half scared himself to death during the night. 

Otik is a versatile producer with a unique take and approach to electronic music. His sound is hazy and distinct, channeling rough soundscapes and weird ambience atop rugged drum beats and bass weight which lends a nod to UK dance culture of old. His new EP on Shall Not Fade is perhaps the best example of this yet.

The sound bounced and wandered drunkenly between the walls leaving intermittent dancers spellbound and swaying in the breeze. It was loud and abrasive, echoing between his ears like some sort of hypno techno blend of melody and machine. Where was he? How had he gotten to be here? Where were his friends? His mind raced as the music continued to ooze and seep into every inch of the space leaving little to no escape from the dense, magnetic sound...

Matteo Coffetti takes us on a slow moving tour through hypnotic electronic excursions on his own Pho Bho Records. It's a wonderfully weird affair made up of rolling acid arps and quickfire samples. A highly recommended release we expect this one to do very well indeed.

Better late than never. We’re pleased to finally welcome Lyon's KUMP label boss Gil.Barte to our LAYERS series. He’s been masterly blurring the lines between techno, electro, tribal, drone and other styles in his own 'Methodrone' show on LYL radio, and it’s time he gives us a little taste of that in LAYER #247.
Dive into his dark, visceral soundscapes pepped up with some snappy kicks.

A sliver of sunlight crept through the gap in the curtains, interrupting the darkness that encased the bedroom. She rolled over to face the wall, willing herself back to sleep before the alarm resounded and forced her out of bed. This morning was more difficult than most; her head felt heavy, a burden to lift off the pillow. She decided that today was a write off, as she cancelled her alarm and pulled the cover firmly over her head. 

Following dancefloor-focused EPs for the likes of XL Recordings, LuckyMe & Deviation, Denver-based producer GILA embarks on his debut long player for London-based imprint Lex Records. Energy Demonstration flaunts a more experimental approach, matching ambient textures with leftfield techno, heavy bass and tight drumwork, and further showcasing GILA's knack for detailed sound design.

Nobody's life was perfect but he started to think he'd been dealt a far worse hand than many others. Several toxic relationships, a myriad of lost jobs and unsuccessful opportunities, not to mention the countless mishaps, had seemed to be the dish of the day since his youth. Luck had never been on his side and things just didn't seem to go his way; he'd come to terms with living with it after all these years. 

Previously shrouded in mystery, Brother Nebula is the moniker of dance music veteran Lance Desardi who, over the last few years, has crafted cosmic and atmospheric breaks and house. He made his debut on Legwork back in 2018 with a collaborative EP alongside Solar, before quickly following it up with his first solo releases on the same label. Last year saw him land on Nick Höppner's Touch From A Distance, but now he makes a triumphant return to Legwork once again for The Physical World, an album of retro-futurist and interstellar electronics.
