This is a collection of songs and recordings from U's archive on Archenfield, a place that exists beneath the drifting borders of England, Wales and the Forest of Dean. The mix explores the area's musical history, humour and the sometimes overbearing legacy of senior nostalgia on modern rural culture. Amidst cheeky spoken word passages, rolling waves of piano and agile bucolic guitars, and twanging transatlantic connections, U juxtaposes different versions of folksongs and standards. Lydbrook Silver Band’s performance of ‘Edelweiss’ is dreamily mournful with ghostly brass arrangements, the sound of gloomy moors and overcast marshes switched out for Christine Turner’s arresting voice, while U transitions from Michael Tanner & Alison Cotton’s mystical plucks and string to his own ominously tolling drums and stories of ‘Black Vaughan’.

For one of such royal heritage he lived a life far from the realms of luxury one might expect him to be accustomed to. The hole in the king's sock grew wider and wider each day as he trudged wearily through the forest, he cared not for gold and palaces but for the sweet essence of nature and the outdoors. Many had criticised his role within such mighty authority whilst others admired his humble reluctance towards the spotlight. For they cared not for the crown, the politics and it's reign but sought sweet freedom from its perilous clutches. 

Flexi Cuts are set to release their second EP in the form of a five track split. They invite a number of new found friends on to the label for the very first time.

When She's Alone

The capital was awash with beautiful people. They danced elegantly under the pale glow of the moon as the framework of great buildings loomed spectacularly overhead. In the distance the cries of the new year could be heard echoing through the park and she gazed out towards the exotic sprawl before her. The balcony was getting cold as the light continued to fade, but she feared little for the chill. She was warm at home now. 

Pont Neuf is a French record label operating out of the capital. They are set to release a new EP from Tour-Maurbourg in the coming weeks.

For their third release Clandestino step into the light themselves to present two original tracks. Here, two dreamy house cuts are aimed at discerning dance-floors. ‘Another Horizon’ channels a heady 
late eighties vibe; ascending sunrise chords and gentle keys swell organically over a burbling 303 line. ‘Quiet Storm’ quickens the tempo; rattling 707 drums set the tone eventually revealing a stripped down bass groove while a teasing Juno arp weaves in and out giving way to a devastating piano hook. Fresh from his recent work with Lizards on Leng Music and Futureboogie and a solo 
outing on Man Power’s MeMeMe imprint, James Hadfield’s version of ‘Another Horizon’ is a warm, pulsating blissed out re-interpretation; not unlike Larry Heard’s deeper moments. The always reliable Pete Herbert turns in a shimmering house rework of ‘Quiet Storm’. Moog bass stabs bedrock an italo style rhythm section and boogie guitar licks while the piano hook of the original is given 
more presence before breaking down into a pure dance-floor moment

The machine was a strange and mysterious looking contraption within which nuts and bolts whirred with ominous bangs. Collinder 69 funk they called it, it had been the hot seller for many months despite the fact that its origins were mythical and blurry. The media had erupted into wild speculation upon the release and ever since the buzz had continued. It was like a rocket ship which soared amidst the distant sky as passengers embarked each vessel. Entering the cokpit he held his breath. 

Giorgio Luceri is the next to release on the esteemed Uzuri record label run by Lakuti. He delivers a killer EP with big hitting music purpose built for dancefloors the world over.
