The clouds began to part, for a brief period there was a radiant blue sky which beamed down upon them all as they gathered upon the hill. This momentary spread was all it would take to set the spirits alight for it reminded them that they were not alone. It reminded them that there was life beyond the fog and that millions of miles away up there was new hopes and dreams.

He watched as thousands of others all gazed upwards towards the glowing light, they were the same as him. Hoping and longing that one day there might not be any clouds and that this would be it…

map.ache is one of our favourite producers over here at Ransom Note. An artist with a masterful talent for creating dreamy visions and beautiful soundscapes. Here he is invited to remix Inner Sciences for French record label Cosmocities in what is an expansive release.

Amsterdam-based Hame inaugurates the Lola Haro helmed Small Steps imprint this October with the three-track 'Compathy' EP. 

Hame's music is all about shared feelings without the barrier of words. In this debut EP, he finds the sweet spot between raw house and ethereal emotion. This release will mark the beginning of the label aspect of a new concept being launched by Antwerp-based Lola Haro, a resident of the Paradise City festival. Small Steps will operate as a record label and events series aimed to deliver a dreamy atmosphere that awakens your senses. All events will feature the concept's signature light installation by Orson Van Beek and invite DJs with a like-minded vision to play. The label will also retain this theme and will specifically highlight music with emotion and a dreamy, floaty feel.

Our premiere for today and the EP opener 'Hushed' is a textural-led house cut laid out across six and a half minutes with fluttering synth swells, airy pads, elongated sub-bass tones, and whispering vocals, all subtly nuanced and shifting atop a bumpy, shuffled drum groove.

The inaugural Small Steps release, 'Compathy' EP, is coming out on October 14.

German veterans Dirk Mantei (Dman) and David Moufang (Move D) have been friends since the early 90s. The next release on Smallville is their "All You Can Tweak" LP, a collection of 7 tracks produced between 2011 and 2021, and the end result makes it very easy to tell the rapport and chemistry that exists between the two artists. 

Today, we feature this revered duo as we premiere "All You Can Sweep", the C2 track. Being created by Mantei and Moufang, and released via Smallville, there is a certain level of quality we would all expect from this combination. This track (and the release as a whole) delivers exactly that. This 7-minute deep house excursion is representative of the rest of the release: well-executed, interesting, and dance-floor friendly deep house, featuring classic sounds with a refreshing, modern take. 

The full EP will be out on December 2, 2022 via the legendary Smallville Records.
