The computer screens flickered, omitting a bright glow that lit the small dark room. Shoulder to shoulder smartly dressed men sat hovered over the screens, intently watching the information that shot across the screen in a rapid bursts. Illegible code and indecipherable numbers; blink and you'd miss it. From the outside, little was known about the operations taking place in this building. Many speculated but all were too afraid to ask...

Under his Pleasure Model alias, Bristol born producer and film composer Antoni Maiovvi explores his love of wave, synth and Italo disco. Having previously released an EP and two albums for Budapest's Dalmata Daniel, he now makes a return to the label ahead of his new LP on 100% Silk, delivering a four tracker titled Update 2.1. Written during a period spent living in The Hague, the release is a batch of freaky Italo jams, complete with weighty drums and soaring synths.

When Stephen Hindman (one half of synth duo The Golden Filter) wrote their new solo album under the guise of Isolating last year, they didn't know the name would take on a whole new meaning in 2020. Like their debut EP System on Optimo Music in May, their new outing was written whilst reading Aldous Huxley books, with one text in particular 'Perennial Philosophy', explicitly influencing the release in both the name and output.

The 11 tracks across Perennial, shift through gritty, dystopian sonics all underpinned by an unsettling and brooding anxiety, which mirrors the concept behind Huxley's book: tackling the perspective in spirituality that views all of the world's religions as sharing a single, metaphysical origin.

His finger hovered over the button hesitantly, his willingness to press it coming and going in waves. Once he hit it that was it, there was no going back, no beta mode to save him. The risk seemed to outweigh the return, and it would be on his shoulders, and his only, if there were any glitches. He knew he'd have to bite the bullet soon enough, but until then he'd let the anxiety gnaw away a little longer...

Our good friend Timothy Clerkin is back with another batch of acid-tinged bangers on his Insult To Injury imprint, run with our good selves, this time courtesy of Manchester-based producers Buran, with two remixes from Kincaid and Earth Trax. Spawned from several live jams, which have barely been edited before going to press, in typical ITI fashion the two originals pack a punch from the off, bringing together acid bass lines, rumbling low end and thumping kicks.

Side A is characterised by two tracks in which we find Erta’s distinctive energy and attention for the dance floor, but thanks to the attentive use of a Juno 106 these two songs also acquire a dreamy and even romantic emotional mood. This side is perfect for specialist radio too.  Side B excites us with an “electropical” track rich of Erta’s elements: tribal voices, percussions, a very strong ostinato bass line and acid sketches that takes us into an even more obscure and hypnotic atmosphere.

Sharing her expertise and experience in music production, live performance, djing, releasing music, label management and general support around balancing life, mental health, motherhood, living abroad and the trials and tribulations of working in "the industry”.
Her efforts to elevate the dance music community through action as well as production is testimony to her character's force as a vessel for positive change.

OTOMATT is an audio-visual trio based in Manchester consisting of Aleksander Brayanov, David Pani and Fred d'Emilia. A project that explores the symbiosis between real and virtual, making use of electronics for sound and image production.
