Termite Tavern is something that was abandoned that originally led to Bee Stings. It didn’t fit with anything before but after making Slow Stings, it had come full circle back down to 100-105 bpm territory.

Following the lurid techno histrionics of Peder Mannerfelt’s All In Your Hands, the PM+ series doubles down with unnerving efficiency to present a formidable pair of club levellers from a formidable pair of club levellers. As an artist across many media, Zoë Mc Pherson slips between easy definition, with an uncompromising experimental attitude which sometimes tests soundsystems and sometimes fills gallery spaces. Ciarra Black operates in murky fringes of contemporary techno, comfortable wielding industrial intensity and eerie negative space alike. 

As Carbon 96, Mc Pherson and Black first performed a live hardware collaboration for the COMMON multiverse live stream in 2021. Now their joint venture gets pumped full of gas and rises to the surface, manifesting as two sharply tooled rhythms. The first, ‘Hyper Hunter’, is a finely balanced blend of pummeling percussion and cavernous space, marked out by echoes and purrs that soften the attack of the rapid-fire low-end thunder. ‘Club Soda’ is a fizzy spritzer in comparison, rocking at a peppy tempo with its own cascade of higher-register pockmarks and angular rave stabs squashed into blunt instruments.

A high-octane and visceral performer, Memory Play’s live sets push their machines and audience to breaking point.

Honed during a three-month writing residency and a series of explosive live performances across Japan in 2022, this EP is a first glimpse inside the world of a hugely talented young artist.

Typeless Mix 39: Small Crab

These four walls were her sanctuary, an armour she'd built to protect her from the chaos of the outside world. By choice her days and nights were spent in isolation, it was exactly the way she liked it. She'd never cared much for other people, she preferred to live in her own imaginary world, where everything made perfect sense to her and her alone. In this bubble she felt safe and protected - there was nobody to answer to, nobody to give their unsolicited advise, she was the master of this universe.

Since their inception over a decade ago Hamburg imprint Couldn't Care More have been home to a roster of artists exploring deep, abstract electronics including the likes of A Sagittariun, Harmonious Thelonious and Stareaway. For their first outing of 2023 they welcome a new member to the family, NY producer J. Albert. The Exotic Dance Records boss and self-described "technologist" brings his distinctive take on deep, groove-laden house and techno for his config EP which is laced with airy, atmospheric pads, intricate sound design and tight drum programming.

As winter slowly draws to a close and the first rays of sun defrost our bones, it's time to mark the end of hibernation with some warm and uplifting slices of analogue soul from Amsterdam-based musical provocateur… Maroki.

Fans of Flippen Bits and Shall Not Fade are no strangers to the infinite and intricate sounds of the Welsh producer and on ‘Plastic Brain’, his Ano Ano debut, we’re treated to another deep dive through electro, techno, acid and breaks.

The title track hits hard. A restless dance floor voyage, that ignites the synapses and electrifies the grey matter with its rampant drums and acidic melody.

'&i’ brings tonal joy and warming, all-encompassing atmospherics. It's deep and syrupy breakbeat pours from the speakers, wrapping us in its irresistible and intoxicating groove.

Back at it, the sound-designer-by-trade cranks up the heat on 'Ed's Noises', mixing breakneck Juke rhythms and jungle beats into a metronomic future-facing gaze.

Maroki rounds out the EP with ‘Tai-Chi on the Roof.’ Cutting its shapes, this brew of serene vocal and fluid fx, together with broken drums and bubbling acid line, combine to create the perfect combination of power and poise.

UK producer Kincaid re-moulds ‘Ed’s Noises’ with a deft touch.. 
Maintaining its juke-judders he slows the pace, plunging us deep into a sub-aquatic soundscape,where we're drowned in the warm succulent bass whilst held surface side, just, by its fluttering snares and fathoms-deep kick drum

We’re delighted to finally share with you PROXIMITY III, the third instalment of our annual Pure Space compilation series. Across the 19 tracks, 22 artists find synergy across the spectrum of experimental electronica.

Creeping through deep d’n’b, blisteringly fast idm, and percussive club cuts across to bass laden experimental music, blissful tech and peak energy techno, we hope this release provides an access point for all electronic music lovers to explore the depths of the so called ‘Australian’ subterranean music landscape.

Re:Conceive 2 is a fundraising compilation of cutting-edge electronic music from artists based in, and orbiting around Montréal. It will activate its broad stylistic range into social action by donating all net profits to The Native Women’s Shelter of Montréal and Just Solutions, a pro bono refugee legal clinic. Contributing artists range from world-renowned to best-kept secrets. Opening with an orchestral bang, a long and hot fire of tracks 2–17 then burns out into the steam of tracks 18–23, before being capped by a chapter of amorphous and watery sound baths. The dance floor is almost always present: at times practically; at times abstracted and imagined; at other times very, very far away. The through line of the album is that of Montréal, where we lay our scene. It is the sound of this time, in this place. 
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

Re:Conceive is a music and social initiative which releases compilation albums. The goals are twofold: to present high calibre electronic music from Montréal, and use the proceeds of its sale to support vital social initiatives. Curated more along zonal lines than aesthetic ones, each edition attempts to highlight a selection of the city’s movers and shakers in electronic music. The first edition raised over $1,300 and received support from Resident Advisor, Bandcamp editorial, Mes enceintes font défaut, Music Is My Sanctuary, Exclaim! and Also Cool Mag.
