On Saturday 16th August, we welcomed @verdant-recordings label boss Andy Green to Inverted Audio Record Store in Peckham to celebrate the release of 'Rain on Window', the latest EP from Istanbul-based producer Havantepe.

Havantepe is the alias of Turkish-German producer and DJ Ismail Genc, co-founder of the Sublime Porte label. Born near Stuttgart, he relocated to Istanbul in 1994 and has been producing and performing techno since 1999.

Over the years, Havantepe has released on a range of respected imprints, including Dutch label spclnch, 200 Records, and Baum Records. His latest outing arrives via Vertex - a joint venture between Verdant Recordings (Andy Green) and Exalt Records (Jamie Bargeman).

'Rain on Window' EP features three solo productions alongside two remixes, weaving together minimal dub techno textures and atmospheric electronics, crafted to captivate even the most discerning listeners.

The waters roared as they swarmed the southern bound ship. The captain barked his orders fiercely as the waves crashed and whipped against the side of the rickety boat, they were barely surfacing now amidst the depths of the sea. This was almost the deep point, the point of no return: plummeting into the sea would see them sink to the murky depths of the oceans abyss. They had waited ever so long to find themselves in this position but somehow they had ended up wishing they might find themselves anywhere else than were they were right now. 

The much loved Joe Europe is set to release a track on a compilation for Flumo alongside Gene Hunt and a number of others.

The light of the foyer illuminates the street. The illuminous pumps shine in the midst of the petrol station courtyard and the striking brand name 'Aziol' reads flamboyantly above the door. There was nowhere else to fuel up for miles around, business was booming and the chirps and chimes of mechanics echoed from parked cars. There was to be a race soon, crowds had already begun to gather to observe the fastest guys in town. Engines roared...

Trux is set to release an LP on the rather secretive German based Office Recordings.  Office07 is the latest edition to a series which has seen releases from the likes of Christopher Rau, Baaz and Dorisburg. Listen to "Aziol".

The sounds of the carnival filled the sprawling streets, colours flourished amidst the glimmering procession of percussion and cries roared. From a table he looked on in peaceful observation, a cigarette balanced delicately between his lips, a glass of rum perched upon the table which sat before him. He kicked out his legs and lay back, this was his city, his town and his Brazil. This sunkissed country and it's people belonged to him, they just didn't know it yet. 

Here is the latest offering from the much loved, highly rated San Proper. L.O.V.E. on Dopeness Galore comes with a laidback, sensual kinda feeling which can often go amiss from House music. This one is all about intricacy, attention to detail, a low slung groove and natural feeling. Listen to "Brazil".

The chant was one of pain and desperation as he stood amidst the village of shanty huts. This was a place which he had called home for so long but now as he stood staring at the burnt out town that surrounded him he had never felt a stronger sense of disconnect. His heart ached for his missing lover, she had vanished into the shadowy depths of the forest which surrounded the once peaceful town. He shouted into the night, calling her name, "Tabanka" he cried, again and again. 

Sofrito: Tropical Discotheque is a record label made up of Hugo Mendez, Frankie Francis, Lewis Heriz and friends. Based in London they release music of a wonderfully eclectic worldly origin which could be as far removed from the city streets in which they inhabit.  Alma Negra is based in Switzerland and has previously released music for Highlife and INI Movement. This one has tribal dancefloor written all over it.

The shuttle had finally left earth headed for extra terrestrial life and promise. It burst through the clouds and towards the blue sky which slowly merged to black. The switches flicked and the the lights flashed in the cockpit. He pulled his helmet over his head and tensed. He was ready to enter a zone in which no human had ever been before. His existence was no longer on earth but beyond it's outer reaches. Adrift the tiny rocket ship floated through the sky on to bigger, better things. On to Xager...

NY*AK has released a few records as of late which have caught our attention however this forthcoming release for Technicolour caught the ears straight from the off. Listen to 'Xager'.

For 2018’s next expedition, veteran cosmonaut Benedikt Frey takes control of space command after making 2017 one of his several galactic conquests, putting his proverbial black, red & yellow flag in a stunning vinyl release on Bahnsteig 23, an equally stunning album on ESP, a plethora of killer remixes and continuing his record label ‘Love Pain Sunshine & Rain’. Need we say more?

His broad electronic taste is vast, and his sound can be a drift across the universe, a jump to hyperspace, industrial binary clunking or an extraterrestrial attack on the senses. Todays sample is the latter. Packed with ample 303, nothing could be better suited to help you laugh in the face of ‘dry January’, show it the Vs and prime you for the weekend.
