After a 12-year gap since the release of two albums and two Eps, Linda Mirada presents her new album ‘Qué largo es el verano’. Featuring a collaboration with North Satellite, production and mixing by Metro Area’s Darshan Jesrani, contributions from Bart Davenport and Daniel Collás of the Phenomenal Handclap Band.
Linda Mirada’s new album got off to an unforeseen start a few years ago when she proclaimed - “I’m going to record a record in Italian”.  To this day that idea has still not been carried out, but her first record in twelve years has since materialized. It doesn’t feature a single song in Italian, but it breathes the spirit of the early 80s pop in southern Europe with flashes of Italo disco.
The idea of recording an LP was born from a conversation with Daniel Collás that opened an unexpected door. What began as an exchange about musical affinities activated the need to reignite old ideas that had been put aside. The vertigo of composing and recording music gave way to the pleasure of working on songs. Time in the studio, collaborations and stories that grew as they came into contact with melodies were all guided by intuition, fertile disorder and the complicity of those who crossed paths in the process, plus a few coincidences. The result is a sensational collection of songs that moves between intimate hedonism and gentle melancholy. There are echoes of the most sophisticated sounds of the 80s, the candor of early electropop, influences of Mediterranean pop and splashes of disco. All with a fresh look, without indulging in nostalgia or clichés.
‘Qué largo es el verano’ is an album made with joy and care. It channels Mirada’s influences into songs that shine with their own light. These seven tracks – plus a PHB Dub - crystallize a very personal way of understanding music as an everyday space, where the production is not the main focus, but with an intention in each note and in each chosen sound. This album brings Linda Mirada back to the forefront of a little-trodden but necessary territory; that of Balearic pop made with sensitivity and elegance. And the single in Italian is sure to come one of these days.

The man, the myth, the legend and big influence to Blank Wave: Alessandro Parisi is an Italian electronic musician from Pordenone - also known as Hesperius Draco and involved in many projects such as Sacrestia del Santissimo Sangue and Dynamite Winter Palace, describes his musical style as “Esoteric Disco“. 

Influenced by baroque and romantic classical music, Mr. Parisi has created a blend of retro future and dark ritual electronix sound with references to past civilizations, spiritual harmonies and ancient sacred mysteries with a post-punk touch. Right on time for halloween comes guest mix no. 114! 

PS: This 2h masterpiece has been live recorded at the Synthetic Reality night, March 29th 2024, at OT301 in Amsterdam.

Blank Wave Guest Mix 114: Alessandro Parisi

Recorded in a small village on the Costa Brava – surrounded by seagulls, tramontana winds, and sea urchin-covered rocks – this mix comes from the laid-back Barcelona neighbourhood of Gràcia, where Parisian-born Antoine Harispuru, better known as Golden Bug, has made his home.

With a career spanning over fifteen years, Golden Bug has become known for his unique signature: drum machines in a haze of smoke, chopped-up sounds with a machete edge, drenched in delay – a raw, kaleidoscopic patchwork of electronica, dub, and psychedelia.

His work has graced  labels including La Belle Records (his own imprint), Les Disques de la Mort, Höga Nord, Gomma, Multi Culti, and Kompakt. This mix hits as the anniversary edition of Piscolabis II, where Golden Bug teams up once again with artists from around the world to craft a new series of aural excursions. From digital reggae to cinematic electronica with Londoner Simone Butler (of Primal Scream) and Brazilian artist Max Blum, to mutant disco with Franco-Italian musician Kim Giani, via slow-burning, incandescent techno led by the captivating voice of Greek singer Scarlett O’Hanna, and krautrock infused with dub in collaboration with London-based Phoebe Coco. These six tracks offer a bold and refreshing reinterpretation of the original album: a rich, textured sonic journey shaped by diverse and unexpected influences.


 
Among the selections, you’ll find current favouites like SAVE’s Rainy Monday — a digital dub gem from Marc Nguyen’s project on Ivan Smagghe’s Les Disques de la Mort, alongside recent discoveries like Blotter Trax’s Superconductor on Optimo.

Facets' "Sonic Ocean" EP on Slovenian label KRI Records deliberately excavates the raw spirit of late ’80s New Beat and EBM for a modern audience. The New York-based producer, also the force behind Samo Records, channels this gritty energy into a contemporary club context with striking precision. His four original compositions rest on a foundation of stripped-down, muscular rhythms and tense, wiry electronics that lock together with industrial purpose. This compelling core work is then amplified by powerful reinterpretations from two distinct voices: the Midas touch of Marcello Giordani and the punishing approach of Broken English Club, resulting in a formidable and complete parcel.

Premiered here, the Alter Ego Mix of the title track by Marcello Giordani is a masterclass in controlled escalation. The Italo Deviance maestro wraps the original's EBM menace in a cloak of psychedelic texture, introducing a relentless, squelching acid line that acts as the track's throbbing nervous system. Around this core, Giordani weaves sharp fragments of Techno and Trance, not as mere decorative elements, but as structural reinforcements that build a palpable sense of anticipation. The calculated intensity of the track is broken by intermittent vocoder passages. The robotic interjections cut through the mix like coded transmissions, offering brief, melodic respites before the driving rhythm reclaims its dominance. It’s a mix that maintains a formidable dancefloor focus while adding layers of cosmic intrigue, proving both functional and fascinating.

The Scandinavian climate was brisk and fierce. In the northern parts of Sweden there was little sound to be heard as they stared up towards the mountainside. A tiny hut could be seen in the distance, a light flickering from a small fire ablaze outside. This was to be the place, the only musical landmark amidst the outback of the north. Acid would play, acid nord. 

Here is the latest release in celebration of five years of Power Plant Records. The release sees the likes of La Fleur and Acid Mondays contribute but it is the Knutsson/Berg track which we have chosen to feature.

The crew had gathered amidst the sprawling estate. The smoke flourished high up above as it escaped from the heat of the grill. Minimal glitches left echoes in the space centre. The control room had gathered to observe what they would expect to be a monstrous launch. It was to be the most important mission of the team yet, the fate of humanity would depend upon their knowledge, skill, wit and might. Earth would remain within the balance of their success. All was up for grabs. 
Fine kickstart their record label with a four track EP of minimalistic tendencies. They feature two tracks from Tilman and Johannes Albert. It is the Johannes Albert 'B1' which caught our attention.
