The room swelled with sweaty bodies, the pulse of the music working each dancer into a frenzy. There was just enough space to move freely, a stark contrast to the empty space that had welcomed people just hours before. The night had only just begun and here time was known to stand still; there was no knowing whether morning had broke or night had fallen again. But that knowledge carried little weight — while it was out of sight, it remained out of mind.

Through events in their home of Brighton, and more recently in the capital, Accidental Meetings have proved themselves as expert curators of the dance. Around a year ago they added a label to their activities, launching with a family and friends compilation and since releasing a handful of live tapes and two solo EPs. Now they mark the end of another year with their second comp, bringing together a selection of old and new friends, with some hints at upcoming releases on the imprint.

Across the 19 tracks they welcome Eiger Drums Propaganda, LUXE, Troy Gunner, Simkin and London-based duo Kiara Scuro, who deliver an acid-tinged progressive trance cut which marks their first ever production. All profits from the release will be donated to Mind, one of Britain's leading mental health charities.

Melbourne based Escape Artist has blessed us with a euphoria bursting EP for the 30th release on our main label series! For the past few years we have absolutely loved his genre fusing releases on labels such as Salt Mines and Kalahari Oyster Cult which wonderfully slip between Breakbeat, Techno, House and Jungle. For the “Energy Breakthrough” EP, the focus is primed straight for the lasers, with three blissfully exhilarating and ecstasy inducing original tracks, alongside a remix from one of our favourite up and coming producers, Adam Pits.

The EP begins with the title track which combines old school house piano stabs at the start that evolve into a soothing pad progression and a super saw breakdown that takes you straight to Amnesia circa 1998. Opting for a more broken drum beat, the track floats effortlessly like a night time motorway drive. For the remix, Adam Pits lifts it into the stratosphere, repurposing the bassline and slapping a thunderous 4x4 rhythm underneath. Invoking Sasha and Digweed at their absolute peak, the track fuses the classic sound of Progressive House and Trance with futuristic levels of energy. “Reach for the lasers” doesn’t quite do it justice.

On the B1 is “The Dream We Share” that marries together chopped up funk breaks, plucky synth melodies and uplifting 303 Acid squiggles with jubilant chords for an elated sonic journey. Rounding the release out is the stripped back and introspective “Breathing Room” that is a beautifully peaceful experience after the dance floor focus of the previous cuts. The refreshing aura of the track that harks to the golden age of 90s Chill-Out and Ambient Techno concludes the release in the best way possible.

Individually Tel Aviv-based producers Olsvanger and MYKI have been firing out expertly crafted productions that connect the dots between their love of progressive trance and pumping classic house. It's no surprise that when they come together under the guise of Babylon X, the output is something to marvel at, and that goes for Truckupidööm,  the project's first full EP. Dropping via their own co-run label, Tofistock, the five tracks fuse the pair's love for old school house, trance, jazz and Mediterranean Arabic sounds, culminating in a batch of  "spooky desert rollers".

Next up on X-Kalay it’s fresh heat from one of the finest among a current generation of prog-inclined producers. Guy Contact’s ‘Out of My Head (Into My Body)’ speaks to a sublime, utopian conception of dancefloor utility; dance music primed to achieve ascension through collective physical experience.

Navigating mystic, offbeat zones, Contact sets out his stall from the start. ‘Out of My Head (Into My Body)’ is as pristine as it is expansive, inducing trance states as trippy flourishes oscillate over driving rhythm in impeccable lysergic style. Then, with another dose of melt-on-the-mind groove, a radiant bliss-out arrives in the beautifully buoyant flex of ‘Sacred Mist’.

Taking its name from a part of the brain associated with emotional processes, ‘Amygdala Tongue Wobble’ propels into fractal introspection with dense, insistent pulse. Finally, ‘Optimystic’ finds Contact channelling new age spirits as he assumes the role of innerzone healer - wide-eyed downtempo to close things out.

Love On The Rocks is back with our first record of the year – a remix of a obscure psychedelic proto-trance cut from ’93, remastered, reissued and remixed for the future by @roza-terenzi and @alexkassian.

‘State Of Mind’ was first released on Rhythm Design in 1993, then remixed in ’94 by @justin-drake and @o-s-m / Quinn Whalley, AKA Slack, who released their first 12” on @andrew-weatherall’s Sabres of Paradise label and years later would go on to found seminal dance music acts @peacedivision & @paranoid-london.

But not before leaving a trail of fire 12”s and remixes behind them, which they found time to do between running around London, DJing, throwing parties and pulling all nighters in the studio. This, in our view, is the key to it all - equal parts tribal, trance and techno, built around a pulverising kick drum, with synths direct from outer space, incomprehensible computerised vocals seemingly delivered through vocoder, rewinds, and breakdowns galore; it sounds like a transmission from an alien race, relentless and insane.

The vinyl comes in a full sleeve with special artwork, inlay with notes from Justin Drake & an exclusive download code.
